Michael Crichton has famously labeled environmentalism a 'religion"
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 10:35 AM by Rex_Goodheart
I have found that, as a defense mechanism, religionists are quite eager to ascribe their own delusional habits (e.g. accepting notions on faith) onto others. I don't know Crichton's religion, except that in 1999 he confessed to believing in God. Does anybody here know his religious background?

Here's a link to his article "Environmentalism as Religion":

1. I think it's just the conservative tactic...
When faced with criticism, conservatives tend to find a way to say "Well, you do it, too."

4. I was sad to see Crichton go all right wing nuts
Ian Malcolm is one of my favorite literary characters. :(

5. I'm Okay With That
If more people took the scientific method and used it religiously, we'd all be in better shape.

6. Crichton actually thought it a good idea to name a novel "Coma"
I wouldn't put too much stock at anything that rolls off the turnip truck in his head.

7. Crichton blew his cred with his silly book on global warming.
I read the book out of curiosity and based on previous good work. What a disappointment. It was a poor novelization of The Skeptical Environmentalist that was clearly written over a three-day weekend.

Crichton should turn his focus back to that which he does well.

9. Wow. Sounds like Crichton might be the person behind DUs own
resident anti-environmentalist on E/E (you know, the big fan of nukes).

10. Liberal skepticism as a religion
Where you take it on faith any semi sounding liberal idea must be wrong and only a fanatic would believe it.

11. He's just another formula fiction writer and right-wing nut case.
I've hated him a long time because of what he did, or at least tried to do, to Michael Crowley.
