A couple of years ago, Ward Weaver killed, dismembered and buried a couple of teenage girls who had confided in him. World class creep. He maintained for months that the girls had run away, even conducting a television interview on a patio on top of where he'd hidden one of the bodies.

Peterson reminds me a lot of Ward Weaver, same smug attitude, same subtext of "I'm smarter than everyone." As the man said in the movie Body Heat, "In any crime there are 50 ways to screw up. If you can think of 25 of them, you're a genius. And you ain't no genius." Peterson doesn't impress me as Mensa material.

Ever since, the flow has been away from lake Michigan and toward the Mississippi (via the Illinois River).
For this story to have any credibility, Peterson would have had to dump the body upriver and in a much more heavily populated area.
No doubt he's a sociopath who has quite likely killed his 4th wife, but this scenario is counterintuitive.
Also, I wonder if this story will mean that the "Win a date with Drew" radio promotion is off?
It's a rather tasteless publicity by a local radio personality.

I'm not that familiar with where the river runs and where the tracks would be. He's a cop, so he could go pretty much anywhere he wanted to go in his cop car, right? Even to a more populated area? He could also have dumped her at night when no one was around.

This spot would be around 22 miles from Peterson's home (against the flow).
I personally suspect he killed Stacy.
She suspected he was going to "off" her and mentioned this to her friends.
It also appears as though his 3rd wife was quite likely murdered.
The local authoriteis appear to have assisted Peterson is making this look like an accident.

The body was found about 20 miles from the Peterson's' home near the train tracks around 2 p.m. Friday. A city surveyor found the remains frozen to the ground near the tracks.

CHICAGO - A Chicago Police spokeswoman says the human remains found frozen to the ground in a field on Chicago's southwest side are not related to the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.

Police spokeswoman Monique Bond also says the body is not related to the disappearance of Lisa Stebic.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says an autopsy is scheduled today on the badly decomposed remains found Friday by a suburban land surveyor.

Authorities say the worker found a human foot and leg near a blue garbage can. But Chicago police have said they did not find a blue garbage can.
