Bill Schneider (AEI alumn) says after Bush, we're ready to make nice. Are we?

The debate showcased the remarkably different primary strategies of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. She's going for the partisans that have historically constituted the overwhelming majority of primary voters. This is clear over and over again in her language, every time she talks about "fighting Republicans."

Obama, on the other hand, talks a very different game — he repeatedly said tonight he can forge consensus, and will work with Republicans.

Clinton's strategy of going for the partisans in the primaries has shown itself to be a winning one time and again. But this election season has been anything but normal — and it's possible that after eight years with one of the most partisan presidents in history, even partisan Democrats want a consensus builder.

Clinton is running as the anti-Bush, while Obama is running as the un-Bush. Which will primary voters prefer?

He always seems to tell us what to want. In 2000, we "wanted" to stop the recounts.

chirping about 'bipartisanship'. How phony can you be?

Edited to add phony = media (for clarification)

2. Oh, so NOW Schneider wants to cuddle. He's been instrumental in CNN's descent into tabloid
journalism, laughingly acting like the "horse race" coverage is the only way to examine politics.

He is incredibly pompous and full of himself, and has been cheerleading Bush and friends until quite recently.

THEIR CRIMES and will vote accordingly. If that ends up being Hillary, so be it. One would think REVENGE is on her mind...KARMA? Maybe? What goes around, comes around? If anyone would want to investigate, I'd think it would be Hillary, after what they did to her and Bill.

I WISH John Edwards would take on this issue too. I've never heard him say one way or another whether he'd investigate these thugs.

4. Sorry, Bill, I'm going with anti-bush rather than un-Bush. 97% in a NH exit poll

seemed to agree with me. I wonder why that question was never asked afterwards/answer never made public?

6. Not DU--most want confrontational but the country as a whole
has always wanted somebody who can work with the other party and make compromises to get things done. I'm not saying that's the way to go, but the country as a whole does feel that way.

7. They want to continue to divide and conquer this country.
The American public wants someone to unite the country so the tough issues can be tackled. The powers to be would rather have divisive partisans like the Clintons and Bushs because it serves their purpose.

Divide and Conquer. That strategy is working and destroying this country.

8. I want nothing to do with Republicans.
They, and anyone who wants to "...forge consensus..." with them can shove it up their ass.

Sideways.
Unlubricated.
And Heated to at least 500 degrees Centigrade.

The Republicans do not want to forge consensus with ANYONE, unless it involves the other party's complete and unconditional surrender. THAT is what the last decade under a Republican Legislature followed by a Republican President have taught us...

Anyone who hasn't learned THAT lesson is one DNA strand shy of a helix.
