Any correlation of wanting Petraeus head of NATO?

1. Will Petraeus bail out of commanding troops/effort in Iraq?

I read the story about Petraeus possibly becoming head of NATO. Is that in addition to his current job, or will he leave his current job?

If he is leaving his current job, I ask why - if he is so good at it, and it is so important that we succeed, why let him leave? Is it because things were held at bay (with more troops), but are now beginning to unravel again (because no political progress)?

If he is taking on NATO in addition to current job - why? Iraq is so critical to get under control, why divert his attention?

Something seems odd about this. I think he wants to leave before things really fall apart again so he can try to avoid being blamed.
