Oliver Stone doing a movie on Bush
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 10:48 PM by dkf
One need only Google the words "Stone" and "Bush" to find plenty of the director's critical comments about the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq. Despite that, the director said he's not looking to make an anti-Bush polemic. His goal is to use seminal events in Bush's life to explain how he came to power, using a structure comparable to "The Queen."

1. What kind of "move" is he doing on Bush?
Sounds kinky.

5. I hope it allows us to examine everything at once.
We've seen it all in pieces, but as a whole it should be more of an impact.

Let's face it. Nobody wants to hold him accountable. No one has the stomach for it. Maybe it takes a movie maker to wake the people up.

I just don't want anyone else to repeat the power grabs he has made and the abuse of our laws.

9. you think it's going to be an objective study?
if it was someone other than Oliver Stone, maybe it would work

people have a tendency to dismiss things when there is an obvious bias

even Faux is losing viewers because of their bias

6. How did Bush go from an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world?
I need to see this one.

7. Someone with credibility should do it.
Stone blew it with JFK. His Bush movie will be seen as a conspiracy theory.

8. Back, and to the left...

But I'd ask, do we really need a movie to show us what we've all seen for the last 7 years... The loss of New Orleans. The unjustified and immoral invastion of Iraq. No mystery here, no magic bullet theory, to paraphrase Lewis Black, they don't even bother to try to hide it from us anymore.

10. That's what I was thinking
There's nothing about Bush* that's entertaining; and I am already overly educated about the man. It's difficult to understand why someone would pay money to see a movie about Bush.* Really, I don't let the man in my house via cable television; I have him on permanent "Ignore" and have for 7 years.

I tell people who visit here Bush and Fox are banned for violence, and I am serious.
