How stupid is Wall Street?
Just heard on the news they're all having orgasms over the boy kings $1600 bribe to pissed off taxpayers. How fucking long do they think that's gonna last. I'm donating mine to the Democratic presidential campaign.

1. where do they think the money will come from?
we will pay it back next year come tax time anyway. we are borrowing money from ourselves and getting excited about it. This is like a cash advance from a credit card with a high APR.

3. Yep. Wonder how many GOP family units will remember how pissed they were come that next April
I actually got a guilty pleasure hearing the grumbling at tax time after that last 'rebate'.

When you have to borrow against a possible tax refund to fill your gas tank and buy the kids milk, there is something seriously wrong with the economy!

7. Looking at the bad numbers they are admitting to
and knowing how they have juggled various indexes to paint as rosy a picture as they can...

Things are known to be bad by enough average people that the lies about the economy won't work.

Death rattle? The cough started in the 80s when unions were being killed off and with that the power of the working class. China owns our paper and we are still spending more than most can imagine monthly in Iraq just so some corporations can get richer.

OUR economy has been dead a long time. THEIR's is in trouble now and that's what makes them move to have us borrow from us yet again.

14. Write your reps and 'splain to them you ain't fallin' for this shit again
and you damned well expect they don't either!

No opt out last time. Only fiscally responsible thing to do is bank it so you have it when the tax bill comes due. Why give Corporations a temp fix then end up paying for it yourself in a few short weeks?

19. Not sure on that, but I doubt it. It is a bribe and we both know that
but it is also a funnel for more cash to the top. They hope we don't know that.

4. It´s a welfare check!
Most households will use the money to pay overdue bills.

6. Call it what it is.....a loan
It has to be paid back, so it is a loan, that will accrue interest. Same as last time, just before the election, they are giving you money so you will vote repub.

8. Personally, I like the welfare check idea!
We need some tax people to tell us the best way to use the money to reduce its impact during the next tax round. I'm thinking about investing mine, so I can make some money if the stock market comes back! How about in a 401, so I can subtract it from this year's taxes!

9. this money will fuck over a lot of people who rely
on government assistance. the line between state and federal assistance will be crossed and there is going to be a lot of people screwed.my wife and i could qualify for heating assistance if we made 100 dollars less last month...the very people who need it the most are the ones who are going to get screwed the most...

10. Actually, Wall Street has declined under the Bush White House
and, when you compare it to inflation, it's declined a decent amount. If you look at it over 7 years, it's a pretty strong repudiation of Bush economics.

Wall Street skyrocketed under Clinton, which meant that they basically endorsed Clinton economic policies: strong dollar, aggressive intervention to help Japan, fiscal responsibility, higher taxes on the wealthy, etc.

12. $1600 eh? First I've heard of it. Who qualifies?
If I do, that would be awesome, only it won't pay for the new roof: estimate $7000 or the new heat pump: estimate $5000.

Just a drop in the bucket as they say so I will continue to sit here shivering next to the space heater while keeping my fingers crossed that the roof doesn't blow off during the next wind storm. :(

18. don't go running out and spending that "rebate"
if it's anything like the last bribe - it's really an "advance" on the following year's taxes -- so it ain't no gift, no manna from heaven - just a box of bushit with a bow
