Doug Baily & Gerry Rafshoon announce Draft Bloomberg Movement...on C=Span
Appartently the co-founders of Unity -08 have broken with the movement and are out on their own to promote the Draft Bloomberg effort. In a live Press Conference Doug Bailey says that Bloomberg will win...without a doubt. They have been having meetings with Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama and Chuck Hagel along with Joe Lieberman. They hope to put together a bi-partisan cabinet because Bloomberg (in their opinion) is the ONLY ONE who can deal with the issues before us...War, the Boomers on SS Crisis and the Recession.

Anyone watch it? Why are they so sure that Bloomberg "WILL WIN." Kind of creepy...., I thought.

1. Bloomberg doesn't have a chance in hell. He is throwing money down a rat hole.

2. I don't think it helps the Democrats...
I think Bloomberg has studied this very carefully. He wants people to believe he is a liberal but in his heart, he is mostly a corporatist.

3. So Bloomberg did not meet with Edwards. That would be significant. nt

4. Chuck Hagel is moderate on war and a total right winger in all other areas. Is he not?

8. Is it a "win" if he keeps his corporate tax cuts?

10. Nominating Hillary will boost his confidence
imo. He could drop a billion $ on this with no sweat, which is unprecedented for a indy.

7. Kinda strange for an allegedly "people-powered" movement
Wasn't the choice of a candidate supposed to sort of percolate up from their paying members, rather than being a "top down" dictum from the leadership?

9. That was the idea...but apparently they've split with Unity-08 and are out on their own
with the Draft Bloomberg. They said that the Unity Movement didn't have the "resources to fund" a third party candidate. A reporter in audience said "where will you get your funds for the draft movement, then." Rafshoon replied that "Bloomberg has the money on his own and they would be able to get additional resources" that Unity can't come up with.

11. Ah
Well, I'm sure that whole "listening to what people have to say" thing was overrated and messy, anyway.

12. Yeah. How many local chapters are there of "Unity '08?"
What exactly does it mean to be a "member?"

15. Yes...the Press Conference seemed to be a "Bunch of Nonsense" ...but still
there are many on Wall St. who think Bloomberg is their DREAM! And whomever WALL ST. wants is what we could get...
