ANKARA – Turkey will help the United States to operate and transport neighbouring Iraq's oil as part of its drive to become an energy hub, Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler told CNN Turk on Friday.

Guler visited the United States this week with President Abdullah Gul for talks with U.S. officials dominated by energy.

'We have reached an agreement with the United States on the issue,' Guler said. He gave no more details.

Guler also said Iraq's natural gas could be transported to European markets via Turkey.

1. As long as we let them slaughter Kurds
They'll help us steal oil. Seems like a win-win situation.

By the way, I still have these nagging questions about how much oil is being produced in Iraq, who's pumping it, shipping it, where it's being shipped, who's paying for it, and where the revenue is going. Anyone have any ideas?

3. Odd, innit?
I mean, for a war that was sold in part to the consumers as "paying for itself with Iraqi oil revenues," you would think that some reporter or commentator somewhere would wonder what's happening to all that lovely, lovely oil and with oil going for $100 a barrel where the money's going.

But with only 24 hours in each day's news cycle, it's easy to understand how there wouldn't be time to ponder such conundra.
