I don't think there's anyone on DU who doesn't 'get' the fix we are in.

We HAVE to vote for a Dem, the very best person in your opinion, but please. Don't let your lips get ahead of your brain.

We Have The Power! Bring Novembr ON, so we can get rid of the sorry-ass shit for brains we have now.

OK, I'm done. :hi:

1. Unfortunatly, it's not the fix we wre in, it's the fact that the fix
is already in. The corporate / defense contractor owned media will tell you who to vote for and wipe clean any coverage of real alternatives. The voting machines are already rigged and we all know it but...see #1. If an actual candidate gets through the above gauntlet, the corporate lobbyists will buy them off and, failing that, there is always the pane crash, the suicide by multiple shots to the back of the head or the grassy knoll. if all else fails, there is the supreme court.

The more I look at the big picture, the more I think we are already fucked, but they are going to fuck us slowly, like frogs in a pot.

2. Well, my glass is always half full instead of half empty.
And I still hearken back to 06 when the Dems got the majority. I am not without hope.

Too bad Dems suck, too, eh?!

It's bound to get better. As every politician has ever proclaimed, "Trust me."

3. That's the problem, the Dems got control and we got
Pelosi politics. Make some noise but maintain the status quo. This might be acceptable is the status quo was not a crime family that makes the Soprano's blush. Lots of noise but basically, Bush and his hit men continue unabated. Unabated? Hell, we can't even get them to stop torturing people!

I'm glad your glass is half full. I have a container of the wrong size for the job at hand.

4. You are right. I'm trying to think it will get better, and have done that
for years. It's better than just giving up.

5. I appreciate your posts about this, babylonsister.
I've been staying away from Clinton/Obama threads lately because it's too damn DEPRESSING to see them having to fight each other. I don't even want to know what this latest argument is about. They're both good people, either one -- or Edwards -- will be light years better than the current malignant narcissist-in-chief, and I just want this all to be OVER WITH!

6. We have to NOMINATE a Democrat first
You can't vote for what isn't on the ballot.

7. From what Naomi Wolf to Naomi Klein and so many others have said i'd say
The fix IS in. After all the Bush/Cheney/Neo-cons have done, does anybody think they're going to give their gains away just like that?

9. politicians in washington, as a group, have NEVER measured up to my expectations
. . . not since I was young and became obsessed with politics. It's always been a challenge to get our issues and concerns addressed in Congress or by the White House -- or get our concerns acted on. We will always have to fight hard to be represented. As long as there's still room and opportunity for that fight, I'm right there.

And, I really don't see any harm in most of the spouting off here, or the 'attacks' which are played with and juggled by all of us. I like the participation. It beats silence.

10. Thank you, babylonsister! I can't wait for November. I'm not expecting miracles and
I'll settle for a foothold out of the pit at this point.

Only the Democrats can offer me that.

11. The Fun Of The Silly Season
I've said it many, many times and continue to sing it...the best Repugnican on their best day can't come close to the worst Democrat on their worst. No matter who is the nominee we can be assured that there will be a whole different feel to this country and the government come 1-20-09. The debate at this point...and one I'm not sold on yet...is whom will be the best "agent" of that change and what that change MAY look like. It appears many other Democrats are as undecided as I am and watching the process play out.

The bottom line is realizing the job that lies ahead. Whomever is elected, they'll have a massive mess to clean up. From Iraq to an economy in the worst shape since the depression to the silent medical disaster to rebuilding virtually every part of the Executive...rooting out the partisan hacks and making the government actually work again. It's one hell of a job...and one that is sure to face a lot of challenges, not just from the Repugnican, but from Democrats themselves. If there's anything we're seeing in the Silly Season is how little things that separate us (in light of how different the GOOP position is) is getting way blown out of proportion. Hopefully once the nomination is settled, the differences will be surpassed by the urgent need to oust the Repugnicans from any lever of power and to begin the long process of healing and fixing this country.

Cheers...

:hi:
