Who is the "Center for Consumer Freedom?"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2676656

Does PETA Really Kill All Those Animals?

The Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) (formerly called the "Guest Choice Network") is a front group for the restaurant, alcohol and tobacco industries. It runs media campaigns which oppose the efforts of scientists, doctors, health advocates, environmentalists and groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, calling them "the Nanny Culture -- the growing fraternity of food cops, health care enforcers, anti-meat activists, and meddling bureaucrats who 'know what's best for you.' "

Over 40 of the group's 2005 expenditure was paid to Rick Berman's PR company, Berman & Co. for "management services. <1> As part of its operations CCF runs a series of attack websites, including "consumerfreedom.com, activistcash.com, cspiscam.com, animal-scam.com, fishscam.com, obesitymyths.com, physiciansscam.com petalkillsanimals.com".<2>

1. my gf used to do dog shows
She said peta showed up a couple of times and let all the dogs out of the kennels. These are show dogs, born and bred in captivity (as are most domestic dogs) but they wanted to let them go free. When confronted with the fact (from my gf) that without owners and warm homes these dogs will die, they depend on humans to survive. She was given the answer that peta would rather let the dogs die then be "owned" I don't know if they kill but their idiology is more important then lives. both human and animal.

4. alright what about it is bs?
the fact that my gf used to do dog shows?

the fact that peta doesnt like for people to use animals as pets?

the fact that peta has a militant following and is known for stunts like that?

or the fact that they came to my gf dog show and tried to let loose the dogs from the kennels?

Most of the PETA staff have companion animals. Ingrid Newkirk made some comments 20 years ago about phasing out "ownership" of companion animals by ending breeding, and people assume that's anti-companion animal, or that PETA advocates all companion animals being freed to roam or starve or whatever, and that's not the case. They're just looking to a future without breeding animals for human use.

PETA? Militant? This would only be a plausible PETA stunt if they were hanging out in front of the dog show naked in cages or something.

AR groups are acutely aware of the "pet" overpopulation problem. PETA doesn't do liberations, but those who do would do them at a time when it could be effective and the animals could be altered and rehomed. Releasing unaltered animals to create chaos or whatever equals more puppies to go to a finite number of homes equals dead shelter dogs, so that's totally BS.

Edit: And that shit would have been all over the media. Link or it didn't happen.

9. So we've got picture taking? And maybe attempted removal of one dog?

That doesn't support your claim of organized release of many dogs. Nor is one random blog (from a goddamned dog breeder!) any kind of source worth listening to. Any fuckwit can blog anything. (And there's no evidence on the blog that this had anything to do with PETA- were they wearing t shirts or something?)

PETA claims their stunts/demos/whatever, brings media, documents the hell out of them, hands out PETA lit. If she "thinks" it was PETA and doesn't know, either it didn't happen (I'm gonna go with that one, because I've walked through enough fields to know bullshit when I smell it) or it was somebody else entirely (and I doubt that, because there'd be press attention.)

11. According to that discussion board it was not PETA
Maybe you should read the links you post before offering them as evidence for your bizarre accusations.

12. the op asked a question if peta kills animals
I just gave him a personal account from my sig other. From what I have heard of Peta doing before it doesn't seem that bizarre either but then again its just my opinion and my sig other recolection.

6. Even the "I-hate-PETA" folks should recognize this as just one more
gang of amoral operatives just serving corporatism. They are professional liars, whose only goal is to discredit and exterminate those who threaten the profits of, or tell the truth about, their masters. "Who they are" has nothing at all to do with one's feelings about PETA. They perform the same slimy service when they trash Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Or any other group that they are paid to attack.

They are assassins without any vestige of a conscience, and anyone who buys their poison had better think more than twice before swallowing it.
