Obama: I'll bring Change. but will it be good change to better life of middle/lower class Americans?
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 06:34 PM by kelligesq
Regarding Tom Donahue's Chamber of Commerce (infamous for his recent anti-populist threat -see Los Angeles Times, "Populists Beware" aimed at John Edwards and the American electorate) which is responsible for the outsourcing and loss of millions of American jobs and the insourcing of white collar and IT workers to take more American jobs.

While Obama is one of their main men for receiving contributions(why dont we just plain out call it what it is: legal bribes) as well as other lobbies not working in the best interest of the American people, such as the National Association of Manufacturers (the factory you worked at is closed down? you can thank the C of C and the NAM) and The Business Roundtable, apparently with Obama's help.

Harper's Magazine gave us a look at Obama's leanings. All I can say, is why is he running as a Democrat ?

Harpers Magazine
http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:QSIUlIICOBQJ:www.harpers.org/sb-a-little-bit-more-on-obama-1161881683.html+Harper%27s+Obama%27s+contributors&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us

"Individual contributors to Obama include some of the best-connected lobbyists in town, including Jeffrey Peck (whose clients include MasterCard, the Business Roundtable, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce) and Rich Tarplin (Chevron, the American Petroleum Institute, and the National Association of Manufacturers). "

-snip-

"consider the following: in one of his earliest votes as a senator, Obama helped pass a class-action “reform” bill that was a long-standing and cherished goal of business groups. (The bill was the focus of a significant lobbying effort by financial firms, who constitute Obama's second-biggest single bloc of donors.) "

Thanks Obama for helping to close out my ability as an American consumer to fight back in Court against big corporations who refuse to consider my safety and welfare.

Tell me, Obama, exactly who should we believe is the populist in this election and is going to bring change to stop the corruption of the American government?

1. The word "change" is being so overused we should just
refer to it as the "C" word.

I've been looking for specifics from the candidates and there aren't any.

It's all blather.

2. To be fair--Obama used it first, in Iowa. I don't think he expected it to be quite so
popular with every other candidate in the race!

6. dont think that's correct-seems to me Edwards since 2004 has been promising the
Change - and I believe him

But all you can see is the word change...not the fact that Obama is a terrible liar?

10. You know what, that acrimony is just not going to fly with me.
"The fact that Obama is a terrible liar?" Of course he's a liar. As is Edwards. As is Clinton. As are we all. But, there are are certainly different levels--and Obama isn't a terrible liar by any definition. Bush is. Edwards isn't.

He used the word "Change" in his Iowa victory speech just a week ago, and suddenly it blanketed the air waves. It was the media who brought it up time and time again, and everyone had to start mentioning it in response; unlike you, I'm not accusing your candidate of stealing or co-opting anything.

In conclusion, I support Obama, not your guy--get over it and go away.

16. "Get over it & go away" Not very adult. Vote for who you want but be informed.
dont just vote because you like his looks, his smile, and the way he speaks.

What counts is if he has a history of action to back up the words.

his history is not backing up his words.

7. Obama's word is hope.
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 06:26 PM by Big Blue Marble
That is what his message is based on, "the audacity of hope." It is a concept that often gets missed here.
The hope that we can each be our better self. The hope that we can rise above partisan ranker. The hope that we can come
together as one people to solve the greatest challenges in our history.

It is a message that is blended with far more subtlety than change. It is, in fact, the only way back from the dark world in which we now live.

12. Yes Hope, which came from Bill Clinton's campaign in 1992
plus several newspapers have noticed that Obama is appropriating Edwards themes and speeches, including the Boston Globe

Just shows he's non discriminatory. He'll plagiarize from Clinton or Edwards or anyone.

When I see who he's taking money from - no better than Hillary. He's disgusting
a liar, and should be a republican.

24. Hope is an universal theme in the nature of humanity.
And bill got it from JFK who got it from FDR. You get the idea
it is a theme that keeps resurfacing when times get hard.
It is the juice that we humans run on. I do not see what you
get with such snarky comments. Really you think you are helping Hillary
with this drivel?

17. I can't for the life of me understand it, but there
is a rather odd person in my little town who has a huge banner for Ron Paul in his yard with the message of
"Hope for America".

I don't know what kind of twist I'd be able to make on his platform to come out with much hope.

And I agree with you on your take about Obama's message.
And the path it opens for us-
peace~

18. "Partisan rancor?" Yeah, much better to go with racism.
Drowns out the nasty whispers of sexism. And corruption.

Because we all know Obama is a uniter not a divider.

26. OK Compare one of the finest Americans alive at this time
with Bush. And what does that get you. Votes for your candidate. I hardly
think so. Obama is flawed as we all are. If you choose to criticize him
in meaningful ways, that is good. I know I have issues with some of his policies.
But comparing him to Bush, that is so ridiculous. It only reflects on you.

27. I truly believe
that Obama's goals are the same as Bush's.

His goals are the same. People just dont realize it yet.

He'll accomplish it more smoothly, and people won't catch on...nevertheless It is my belief that he will complete this country totally being run by the corporations, citizens devoid of any voice and power in govt.

He said something that gave me the willies after his big win, it was onto New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada AND THE WORLD.

I have found information tying Obama to David Rockefeller's Trilateral Commission and the Bushs, and the Trilateral Commission is connected to Bilderburg and those few who wish "New World Order" , "One World Government".

These are not people or organizatons interested in the individual welfare of Americans. They're interested in multi national corporations bottom line and ruling the world, enslavement in one way or the other of the peoples of the world. Serfdom.

Obama did not come to be named one of the most 10 most influential people in the
World in 2005 (whoever heard of him then) all by himself...or to be running for president after two years in federal govt. There are big powers behind him, and they are not for democracy - they are for unfettered free trade, globalists.

For me, if you have a tie in to bush, the trilateral, David Rockefeller's plans for world domination... you're a bad person.

Mot every one may feel that way...but I'm old enough to know history.

4. Obama fought the bankruptcy bill...
Obama's fighting predatory lending with his credit card bill of rights.

And he's for healthcare for everybody.

All things that would help the middle class.

If you're legitimately interested in more information, I can refer you to more.

9. I;m sorry Anyone who takes money from those listed, C of C,
NAM, petroleum industry, against our rights to sue corporatrions that are poisoning us or maiming us is not interested in the welfare of the American people.

He's more like Bush and more dangerous. He can speak and makes a better appearance.. makes him no less lethal to the government of the people , by the people, and for the people.

This guy is not for middle class Americans when he works against them.

The bankruptcy bill is no favor to Americans in trouble either. Makes it harder for them to declare bankruptcy.

You need to do some more research.

He doesn't address the CAFA bill, but from what I understand it moved some class-action suits from state court to federal court.

25. Thanks, I hadn't seen those "answers" but they dont answer
who he took money from - and the matter of writing a bill against the interests
of individual Americans and in favor of business interests and corporations, which passed.

Of course, class action suits were John Edwards specialty as well as against insurance companies.

'm one of those people who was told to take a medicine that was later found to be causing deaths and heart attacks. Bextra .

You realize what Obama's bill did for those people.

Whether it;'s true or not that class action suits were moved to State Courts instead of Federal Courts I dont know. I do know that moving a class action to
State Courts is harmful to the plaintiffs and the plaintiffs lawyers. Instead of one court , they have to go individually to 50 state courts asking for permission for class action. A certain number of people are needed for class action, that move waters the numbers in each state down as well as watering the plaintiffs' cases down..if there are only 100 in each state for example instead of appearing with 5000 who have been harmed.

He did no favor for consumers and those who have been harmed.

He's slick okay. I have never felt good about him, didnt know why, and now know.

He didnt ring true, cause he's not.

I'm never impressed with a great smile and good looks - although the fact that he has a good voice and vocabulary makes him that much more dangerous to the non
thinkers.
