The many signs of Latent Republicanism
1.Pride in being a Southerner
2.Gun ownership or support of the 2nd Ammendment.
3.Hunting and or Fishing
4.Eating meat.
5.Nascar Fandom (if not already guilty of #1).
6.Failure to support Hilliary.
7.Failure to support Obama.
8.Any suggestion of bi-partisanship.

Well-that's my list,I'm guilty of four and supportive of a fifth. I find three very natural and a fourth guaranteed by the Bill of Rights,a fifth and sixth to be signs of political choice, the seventh a birthright and the eighth to be a discussable option that I do not currently favor.
My experience on the board recently though suggest these are each a perverse litmus test....I think back to elementary school in the 50's and how we all looked alike and thought different and detest the thought that it could come to the need for Democrats to all look different and think the same.
Through the passions of this primary season it is more important to remember the very core likenesses we each have on this board-you remember, those attitudes that drew you here and made it a second home. And if it all looks different now then perhaps you should check in the mirror to make sure you're the same.

2. Missed on #2, catnhatn - I own guns.
I was also raised in the South - the Kennedy south, the supporters of the Civil Rights Movement south.

I own guns because I eat meat, and I prefer the natural to the processes grocery store kind. So I hunt. I also fish.

I appreciate your irony - because my folks were very left, and I'm at least as left as they were.

We will all differ - but if our goals of fair and supportive government are the same, we'll all win.

4. Actually, I can claim that only partially -
Born in Florida, raised by a woman from Maryland (who, by the way, is now 92, a retired CPA) and a daddy (he will ALWAYS be daddy) from Pennsylvania.

Spent 12 years in Alabama, where my MBA daughter was born and raised.

NOW I'm home in the far north, and lovin' it - as I've always loved it - since 1968.

But I like to think I'm "home" in both places!
