Ed Shultz says...
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 03:42 PM by butterfly77
Tweety is a great talent. What in the hell is he drinking? A caller said something about him being jealous of keith olbermann because of his ratings. You can tell he is trying to steal some of keith's ideas. He does something on their about the number for the day. I guess trying to copy off of best and worse person's in the world.

5. Ed is trying to build his resume'.
He is is moving forward like we all do when trying to make a living. He is in their cliche'....I essentially just listen to the following:

MSNBC stays on almost 80% of the time....I don't really like Morning Joe, but, yea, I start my day off with him anyways.............

I like many of the guest commentators, such as Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddows.

8. well, isn't he?

You have to admit, it does take some natural talent to appear daily in the national A/V media, looking lively (preferably attractive, but at least you have to be lively), posing as someone with expertise or knowledge, while spouting talking points on behalf of an employer, and/or trying to string together a coherent interview on topics that are really way over one's head. Matthews is at least as good as most of the other media whores, and he gets paid big money for his talents, such as they are.

And Ed Shultz is operating, at least partially, within this media bubble where they might evaluate someone's performance outside the context of what is performed. It's kind of a clique, where you might respect, e.g., a person's ability to speak convincingly whether or not you agree with what they say.

14. No.
His talent is to schill for the rightwing and slobber all over the place and demand that his guest answer the way he wants.

24. however you slice it, he's doing a job I couldn't do
Hey maybe you're special, maybe you can hold down a gig as the host of a political TV show (however biased and idiotic it may be), I know I couldn't. It takes communication skills, practice, and a basic affinity for the camera. If his sole ability were, as you say, shilling and slobbering and forcing set answers from guests, then he'd have nothing worth paying for, and his employers wouldn't bother. That's not talent, any idiot can do that, and clearly that's not what Shultz was referring to. Doing it effectively in a way that others would sit through a commercial break to see more of is what sets a talented performer apart from a hack.

Tweety's a pro in a demanding field. If you don't believe it, go watch some cable access TV for a while and ponder the difference. Don't get me wrong, I don't like his show, probably for pretty much the same reasons you don't, but I can tell there's some craft involved with it whenever I bother to watch.

10. I tuned into Ed's show 3 times this week.
The first time I heard interviews with Ron Paul and Pat Buchanan. The second time he was ranting about what a great guy Huckabee is. The thid time he was taking calls from Huckabee and Ron Paul supporters. I could have heard less right wing talk from Rush.

13. You took the words right out of my mouth. I turned on Air America
in my car this week and every dang time I catch Schultz he has a repug on the show with him and he is always lambasting the Dems. I can't stand to listen to this guy and can't imagine how he got a slot on AAR. Mark Green is doing progressive radio no favors giving this a$$wipe a platform.

15. Schultz is not with AAR, but some stations that carry AAR also carry Schultz
Schultz is with Jones Radio Network, as is Stephanie Miller

19. It is ridiculous that XM pre-emps Hartmann for Schultz
They have lots of channels that they could use to carry Schultz and carry Thom Hartman live. They used t carry Schultz on another general talk channel.

23. I cancelled XM for that very reason
They cut Hartmann to two hours, and even then, run his show 8 hours late. Then they cut Malloy to two hours. And they give Schultz the preferential treatment, rather than just add a second fucking "left" channel (they have at least six right wing channels, for fucks sake)

18. Ed Schultz is a lifelong Repub who assumed a "Dem persona" in return for a radio paycheck.
He should suck a candy bar out my ass, choke on it, and rot in hell.

21. Shultz has helped to feed all of the anger against Clinton...
and if she gets the nomination, then what will he do. He is talking as though all of these comments are true just as the freepers that are on board here. After he has done his damage will he change his tune and try to get back all of the black voters he is helping to lose so that we can beat the Cons. In Obama's case the freepers will take care of him on their own with all of the rumors and falsehoods against him that will lose white voters. Thus, you will have McCain... What is it with all of these endorsements all of a sudden they aren't swaying me one bit,. I will vote for whoever is the Democratic nominee. The objective is to beat the CONS but they are giving them a lot of ammunition.

22. Shultz is saying that there has never been a better chance for..
the Dems to win. I thought that for the past few years until, he began spouting all of the Hillary hate on the radio and television and it seem to build from there. I remember her coming on his show and once he couldn't get her on his show he began acting like Tweety. I began hearing the Hillary show everyday now he seems to be very happy with himself. He is telling his callers that all will be fine as soon as the nominee is chosen. I am beginning to seriously doubt it...Some of these people hate the nominees just as much as the neocons.
