When Barack and Hillary Share Our National Ticket, Some Over Zealous Posts Here Will Hurt Them.
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 01:39 PM by David Zephyr
I anticipate either an Obama/Clinton ticket or a Clinton/Obama ticket.

Those few here who continue to spread mischief against them and to make exaggerated claims against them are doing so at all of our collective peril.

I see it on my side (that would be Obama's) and I see it on the other side (that would be Clintons).

The good news is that it is done here by only a small minority of posters and they seem to repeat themselves a lot so it's pretty easy to identify them after a while.

Keep in mind that there is a high possibility that Barack and Hillary will be on the ticket together.

I have to say that from my observations, it has been the Edwards supporters and the former Clark supporters that were the classiest here. We who support Barack and Hillary might learn from that a little.

That's all I ask.

1. Thank You for Pointing This Out.
The run against the GOP is still the main focus.

2. richardson asked for an end to mud-slinging and eating our own yesterday-- but, like me,
he thinks it is going to get ugly.

my own view is that the repukes are going to be so ugly, we don't need to help them.

3. Do you have ANY idea how much you undercut your own purpose
by telling others that who they are, what they want, and, ergo, who their candidates are - none of that matters??

You want people to collaborate? Rubbing salt in their wounds is NOT the way to achieve that.

I don't believe in putting people on Ignore, but I'm considering an exception.

4. Doubt it will happen
either way. I know there is a lot of speculation, but it just does not seem to make much sense. Either of them can find alternatives that will much better serve their respective purposes.

5. Do you think either of them would take the VP slot?
Personally I'd love either way around.

But I don't see it happening.

But that doesn't mean there's gonna be a shortage of ski boots at the 9th Circle Wal Mart anytime soon.

12. Nice extrapolation on an old metaphor!
I'd call it a "conceit" but you'd probably be insulted, though that IS the appropriate literary term.

10. Yes.
This is, at heart, a message board.

I sincerely doubt very much if the powers that be at the Clinton and Obama campaigns are intently reading Democratic Underground every day.

Sorry to rain on people's parades here, but there you go.

16. Thanks.
We have long time DU'ers leaving because of some of the nastiness. Others are posting they would "never" vote for either because of it.

I am very happy now that we have front loaded primaries and it will soon all be over.

8. I doubt they'll be on the same ticket, however...
I just don't understand why a few Obama and Hillary supporters act like they have utter disgust for the opposing candidate. What if Hillary is the nominee, or Obama? What are they going to say then? They spent so much time trying tear down each other's candidate that I wouldn't be surprised if they voted third party or not at all.

What about Taylor Marsh and Roseanne Barr spewing vitriol against Obama? What are they going to do if Obama is the nominee? Become hypocrites and fake that they like him when we know they don't?

It's just a bunch of nonsense as far as I'm concerned.

9. Yes, shades of Post '04 Primary Bloodbaths - I remember it well!
And I remember the lessons I learned from Howard Dean after he left the race - by way of his ACTIONS - which garnered him my respect forever.

A wise thing to remember David, thanks for mentioning it :hi:

13. I think it will be a Clinton/Edwards ticket.
And somehow I can't shake the feeling that that was the plan all along (and also explains why Edwards has become the "born again" populist.
