Why Haven't We Held a DUnion?
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 12:55 PM by CorpGovActivist
Honestly.

We squabble like a family.

Why not meet up somewhere this summer with a covered dish each?

I know I find it a lot easier to remember that I love my more right-leaning family members when I'm scarfing down "that" recipe that nobody else has, or when we turn the perfect double-play together, or spike the 15-13 point at, near, or on Cousin So-and-So's face.

; )

I know this has been asked before.

Has it been answered?

Sadly many of the attendants are no longer members and have either been ts-ed or migrated elsewhere.

But folks flew in from all over the place and it was great fun.

... and I'll even pick you guys up from any of the three airports.

What did your mom speak out about?

It *is* gorgeous in the spring. I brought Patrick down here from frigid Boston in Spring 97, when he was one year out from finishing his bachelors degree. I somehow neglected to tell him about July and August. Oops.

; )

We moved on the Fourth of July, 1998.

How often do you guys get back to the Netherlands? Speaking of which, one of our favorite spots - shown in Patrick's photo galleries - is the Netherlands Carillon. The tulips that the Dutch people send over are gorgeous, and the sweeping view of the Mall across the river is spectacular.

My mom was a national speaker for Women's Council of Realtors, Certified Residential Specialists, and the National Association of Realtors. :)

We moved to the states in 2001 and went back to the Netherlands last year for the first time since. It was a great trip! I miss it quite a bit, but when I lived there, I missed my family terribly.

It's hard enough just getting ten or so DUers to agree to a local meetup, let alone ten thousand or more. If you want to try to bring this herd in that's fine by me, Denver is close enough that I'll pencil it in.

31. A couple possibilities:
Take Back America and a whole week of anti-war activities are taking place in DC from March 12-20. I would hope DUers would be in attendance at both of these events. At any rate, sometime that week, we should have a meetup in DC.

Then in July, Yearly Kos is being held in Austin. (They changed the name, and I can't remember off the top of my head.) That event should also attract DUers from all over.

When I was in DC for the march in Jan 07, we had a wonderful party for DUers and it was fabulous meeting a lot of them. We also marched together. And I still have the little pooh flags Unhappy Camper gave me that weekend!

So if you are planninig on being in DC in March or in Austin in July, let's hook up.

I would also encourage any of you who have not already done so to reach out and meet the DUers who live near you. We have a big group here and we hang out together (but not often enough if you ask me). DUers make the BEST friends.

What about a time zone DU meet ups? All 4 time zones in certain areas so it will cheaper for everyone. We can always call the other DU meet ups between drinks, smokes, arguments and harass them.

91. I think in face to face meeting (without usernames known, lol)
DUers would get along very well. It's easier to argue on the net. In reality, especially when you already know others are at least of like mind enough to be Democrats, it would be easy to be nice.

It would be interesting too, to see who dominates. It might be people other than those who dominate the board. When you see those threads praising the more dominant posters, you never know whether they might not be self effacing people who would be quieter in person.

It would be fascinating to get to know people first, then reveal the usernames.
