Lawrence O'Donnell: John Edwards Is A Loser (HuffPo--WTF?)
John Edwards is a loser. He has won exactly two elections in his life and lost 31. Only one of his wins and all of his losses were in presidential primaries and caucuses. He remains perfectly positioned to continue to lose with a Kucinich-like consistency. Nothing but egomania keeps Edwards in the race now. All presidential candidates are egomaniacs but some of them have party status worth preserving that forces them to drop out when they hit the wall. A loser like Edwards has no status or dignity to lose. Campaigning and losing is his life. So, he will continue his simple-minded, losing campaign and deny Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton the one-on-one contest they deserve.

7. You're WRONG. O'Donnell is a Democrat through and through. He was never
a RWer:

Born in Boston, he was also an Emmy Award-winning producer and writer for the NBC series The West Wing and creator and executive producer of the late NBC series, Mister Sterling. He also appears as a recurring supporting character on the HBO series Big Love, portraying an attorney.

He is widely known as a outspoken television political commentator, and was the Democratic Chief of Staff of the United States Senate Committee on Finance from 1993 through 1995. In 1992, he was Chief of Staff of the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

O'Donnell made himself a key figure in the coverage of the Valerie Plame scandal by naming Karl Rove as the primary source for Matt Cooper's story. He is well known for his strong dislike of California's current governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. He calls himself a "practical European socialist."<1>

In October 2004, while a guest on the MSNBC show, Scarborough Country, O'Donnell began screaming "liar" over and over again to fellow guest Swift Boat Spokesperson John O'Neill, a Vietnam veteran, and refused to let O'Neill speak.<2> In May of 2005, while serving as a guest panelist the CNBC program, Dennis Miller, O'Donnell began screaming at fellow panelist, the late Cathy Seipp on the issue of public education and teachers. Siepp later dubbed him "Larry O'Scary".<3> During an episode of The McLaughlin Group in December 2007, O'Donnell criticism The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that garnered a great deal of media attention, especially when he stated that Joseph Smith, the Mormon founder, was pro-slavery (Smith actually ran for president on an anti-slavery platform). O'Donnell continued his comments about Mitt Romney and Mormonism during an in depth interview with radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, wherein he criticized other religions including his own Catholic faith, but declined to publicly criticize Islamic fundamentalism because he said he was afraid for his life, to which Hewitt responded, "So you can be bigoted towards Mormons, because they’ll just send you a strudel."<4>

8. I've edited my post.
I'm really embarassed, in my morning haze I confused him with a former high ranking Pentagon official.

Argh. Thanks for the clarification.

27. He's not a Democrat any more
To be a Democrat you have to believe in DEmocracy. Apparently he is in favor of limiting our choices, trying to force us to have to choose between Corporate Candidate A or Corporate Candidate B. Fuck that shit and FUCK LARRY O'DONNELL!
Time to send him to Iraq in an unarmoured humvee.

4. It's pretty much true
He really hasn't managed to do anything useful in this primary process and he has lost and will continue to lose.

9. Utter garbage.
Deny Hillary and Obama the 1-on-1 contest "they deserve?" Precisely why do they "deserve" that? Other candidates should just get out of their way as if they were royalty?

I doubt even Hillary and Obama supporters would agree with this.

Sounds to me like ODonnel is "a loser," because this article is definitely an epic fail.

10. The article is mean, but I do think he should leave the race
The American people are excited about putting either Clinton or Obama in and Edwards is stacking the deck for one of them (not sure which one). I think he is interfering with history right now.

22. He's violating the Temporal Prime Directive?
So Edwards is from the future, and he has come back to restore the timeline that was trashed when the Supreme Court awarded the Presidency to *?

I *knew* I was in the wrong timeline!

12. Way, WAY over the top. O'Donnell is an ass.
I agree that Edwards has no chance whatsoever of being the nominee. Even his supporters on DU think it would be ok if he just won one primary, maybe two.

Edwards knows that he will not be the nominee, IMO. But Edwards' choice to run anyway is his own. No one "deserves" a one-on-one contest, and no one should tell Edwards to quit. He said he would run "until the convention" (probably meant until the nominee is clear from the primary results.)

15. If Edwards loses SC and NV and stays in...
he will be seen as a spoiler.

He is still in it...but a few more loses will seal his fate. He needs to recognize this.

16. O'Donnell is an idiot.
When I heard him on AAR talking about how sexy Nora O'Donnell (notorious Bushbot) is, I thought, "What the fuck ? Are you trying to outdo that asshat Chris Matthews?"

O'Donnell is constantly siding with the right-wing of the Democratic party. I do not enjoy him.

Calling Edwards names pisses me off.

:wtf:

17. He was a big Keep Terry Schiavo Alive fan
He was convinced her husband was trying to kill her to get her money, and said that if his daughters were in the same position, he should have the right to decide, not their husbands. Yikes

He's also a raging egomaniac.

I confess to enjoying him on the McLaughlin Report, though. He usually takes the liberal/Democratic side on issues, and laughs at Fat Tony and at Pat Buchanan, which makes both of them mad.

23. This is over the top
I have often liked him - but going off on Mormonism being a cult and this really are not good. I don't think Edwards will win, but it is way too early to rule it out. It was only 3 weeks ago when he was said to be surging and the likely winner of Iowa.
