The Eskimos have a number of words for snow, each word a descriptive label, explaining a different quality in an element that has such an impact on their daily lives. So, why don't we have labels for government since it, is different in as many ways as there are political parties?
So, to start, here are the types of government that I see as the two dominant:
(1) Democratic government: A benign form of government which determines that public agencies are better suited to control social services in an equitable and objective way. This has more than a charitable slant to it. The principle is that this form of government will keep the country from crisis by making sure that everyone gets, at least, the minimum health attention they need and that industries which have the power to wipe people off the face of the earth financially, are kept in check.
(2) Non-government, Government. Cronyism Government. Norquist Government. Most people think that this is "shrinking government," minimialist government. But nature abhors a void. What we've learned, is that this form of government is creating chaos in the country because it's giving community leaders every opportunity to abuse power, enriching themselves and their cronies, and no one can stop them because it's too expensive, and the likelihood of beating them is low because the courts are filled with their cronies, and because the law enforcement agencies have been politically compromised.
Now, I'm not happy with the labels for either group. Can someone do better?
