Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but while the Democrats are merrily patting themselves
on the back (myself included), assured of the apparent inevitability of a Democratic win
in '08, the dark lords of the Nasty Neocon Empire (the GOP slime machine) is busy sharpening
its knives and stirring their cauldrons of slime and crap. We cannot afford to be lulled
into a state of complacency.

Their vicious 100-ton SWIFTBOAT steamrolling machine has barely even started its engines.
WARNING: The following is EXTREMELY offensive, but it's out there and voters are exposed
to it NOW. Racists, sexists, and bigots are in full bloom. And the General Election has not
even started, and look what's out there already. Are we even prepared for this? Will our
enthusiasm and hopeful outlook be enough to thwart their efforts? I ask your opinions.

NOT FOR THE WEAK OF STOMACH. Believe me, you will need a shower afterwards.

NOW SERVING (courtesy of the opposition)

A SING-ALONG FOR EDWARDS:
John Edwards Feeling Pretty

Have you seen these headlines yet?

"Chamber of Commerce vows to punish anti-business candidates"

The group indicates it will spend in excess of the approximately
$60 million it put out in the last presidential cycle.
(Gee, I wonder what kind of crap any of us could dish out with a
MINIMUM of $60 million dollars to play with?
)

Have you seen these bumper stickers yet?
"Visit the Clinton Library - Exit 69
Lap dancers get in FREE"
"John McCain never cried while tortured in Vietnam"

Or how about the latest political cartoon showing First Husband Bill passing out lollipops
and candy cigars to a line of new interns entering the front doors of the White House,
while whimpering Hillary watching from a window above, sobs into her handkerchief.

Or the cartoon of John Edwards drawn as the cowardly lion, sitting with his legs up on
the desk in the oval office, surrounded by munchkins brushing his hair, manicuring his nails and
powdering his nose. A Presidential aide whispers that the Russian Premiere has
been waiting for 30 minutes. The caption reads: "Tell him I'll be right with him,
right after my pedicure."

Then we will be constantly barraged with ads, ad nauseum, showing a white
galloping steed carrying a stoic JOHN McCAIN, the knight in shining armor, having just returned
from a successful surge in Iraq, with years of service as a stately Senator, fighting for the
National Defense, our national hero who absolutely refused to cut and run.

ON EDIT: Man, am I a fortune-teller or what? I just heard the following speech by McCain
on HARDBALL today:

"If we had done what the Democrats wanted to do a year ago, or six months ago
or today, and that is set a date for surrender and a date for withdrawal, Al Quida would be
telling the world they defeated the United States of America. My friends, I will never let
that happen... I will never let that happen.
" AND SO IT BEGINS

REMEMBER THIS:
The fools who brought in the current administration still vote.
They're standing there bleating, just waiting to be convinced again.
If we think the powers-that-be are going to throw in the towel easily,
then we are the fools. They are going to do everything in their power
to try and stop us... and then try to make us look like the bad guys
for even "trying" to usurp their power.

WHAT WILL WE DO ABOUT IT? I think that only a major net roots
campaign combined with major activism will give us any hope of
winning in '08. Imagine the utter angst you will feel if the GOP wins again.
:puke: :wow: :grr: :nuke::puke: :wow: :grr: :nuke::puke: :wow: :grr: :nuke:
Convince me I'm wrong. I don't want to be right. I beg you. PLEASE

I have no idea why this excellent thread is dropping like a stone.

This election will not be a cakewalk, no matter how much wishful thinking there is.

5. We had one chance, my friend
and that was to impeach. Now their Justice Department reigns free encouraging the suppression of the vote throughout the nation. It will take a 2 to one odds for us to overcome the dirty dealings or we're looking at President Huckabee.

Who are to blame, why we are. For allowing Nancy Pelosi, Henry Reid, Chris Van Hollen etc. to get away with it. What were their motives, I ask you? When we came calling asking for justice against these war criminals. While war hero veterans like Adam Kokesh and Gold Star mothers like Cindy Sheehan were arrested, protesting this vile war in Iraq, these motherfuckers sat comfortably by. One decent man running for President stood up, Dennis Kucinch.

More money from well meaning people like us, poured into the coffers of the no-backbone Democrats while the Republican fascists reigned free.

There we are, my friend.

It appears that the MSM may be attempting to provoke racial unrest, which, if it escalates, will be blamed on Democrats and could derail Barack.

For anyone who watched Scarborough on -- I think it was the morning after the NH primary -- or heard some of the callers on Washington Journal that same morning, or listened to Chris Matthews later that same day, you may have picked up on it.

There have been other things since that morning that set up red flags and I won't go into any of it here. I definitely hope I'm way, way, way off base or just another nutjob with a conspiracy theory.

13. I was just getting ready to ask if anyone has heard anything about the
situation in SC and if the voters there are being misled to believe race was the factor that gave the NH primary win to Hillary.

I heard this may be happening in SC and hope it is not true.

Actually, this pic could be used against McCain if he gets the GOP nominee.

20. "Chamber of Commerce vows to punish anti-business candidates" . . .
which is why John Edwards is not going to be allowed anywhere near the White House . . . I support him, but the powers that be have decreed that he (or anyone like him) will NOT become president -- and they have the means to ensure those results (see Elections 2000 and 2004) . . .

too bad, because the only way we're ever going to see meaningful change in this country is by addressing the critical issues that underlie ALL other issues, i.e. . .

1. The corporate hold on the American political system.
2. The erosion of our civil liberties.
3. The Military Industrial Complex
4. The Crimes committed by the Bush Administration.
5. The Truth about September 11th, 2001.

(from The Issues Candidates Won't Touch by Timothy V. Gatto) . . .

to this list I would add . . .

6: The Privitization of U.S. Elections

anyone who thinks that Election 2008 will result in substantive, progressive change is delusional . . .
