Western support for Edwards
I had a big surprise today. I was talking to my parents, who are 79 and 82. They are still undecided between Clinton and Obama.

That was not the surprise. We have a whole branch of our family, who although they grew up in Minnesota, have lived all their lives in the West. My aunts and uncles who live in Montana have never voted for a Democrat. They are all solidly in the Edwards camp.

One of my cousins is a liberal who lives in Seattle. His support for Edwards does not surprise me. But the rest of them are Wyoming conservatives. They are supporting Edwards, too. They seem to be unswerving.

I may not vote for Edwards, and I know this is anecdotal. Maybe you would have to know these people for it to mean anything. But it is a huge reversal for them.

I hope my Western family actually gets out and votes. I will remind them. But I think Democratic turnout there will be huge.

would vote for Obama?

4. Yes I have asked them.
Rather than get into an argument here, I will tell you that I talked to them about the good things for Clinton and Obama both. I told them that I was still undecided.

My mother told me that our Western relatives are Edwards supporters. I e-mailed a couple of my cousins. I said only good things about Edwards, and reminded them that they needed to translate their support into action.

3. John wins against the GOP candidates
better than Obama and Clinton, in poll after poll. This story does not surprise at all, but it's GREAT to hear it from another DUer. Keep spreading the word. John needs our support to hang in there so he can keep reaching the masses that the MSM won't help him do - but we'll talk for 15 min on air about Hillary 'crying'....

5. Edwards viability with all parties
Every Christmas we have dinner with our fiercely Republican friends. They STILL think Bush is a great President!?! Any way, this year I expected to have our usual lively political discussion, when to my surprise they asked me who I was going to vote for in the upcoming election. I told them I was a firm Edwards supporter and had been actively contributing to his campaign and working in other ways to help his candidacy. Then to my surprise, they said HE WAS THEIR CANDIDATE TOO! The first thing they said was that they trusted him to keep the country safe and would work hard to do a good job and was sincere. This is of course a shock to me because we rarely agree on much politically, despite the fact that in other ways they are wonderful people. This is the beauty of Edwards' campaign. Very diverse people can both get behind his message, which is basically we are all human and government should be WORKING FOR US. I'm not surprised that Edwards soundly beats all Republican candidates. If he can win over my friends, then he can get the job done and take the Presidency.

6. He's A Lot Of Second Choices
While I see Hillary doing well in California, I can see Edwards showing strongly in the Pacific Northwest...but is that too little too late?

I encounter many people who like Edwards but as their second choice...women and the 40+ group are still strong for Hillary, Obsma's got the younger vote and the independents...Edwards sadly falls in the middle and there's not much there. I wish I could say why he doesn't get more attention or what's missing in his campaign, but he's been third on a match and unless Clinton or Obama fall out, he's gonna get less and less corporate media attention. I wish it weren't this way. Sadly, if Senator Edwards doesn't win South Carolina or show real strong, the game may be over.

7. The puhgs 6 candidates get coverage, but not the third dem
I think it has more to do with the fact that he's talking about taking the country back from the corporations than anything else.

No coverage and pretending its a two man race, doesnt get him known by the American people

8. Which is why this nonsensical primary system needs to go
away. We should have a single-day primary in all states - one day, all the states.

I don't like having my choices made for me by a handful. My state moved up their primary (NV) but that doesn't solve the problem for the rest of the states. This system disenfranchises voters as candidates drop out one-by-one.
