John Kerry to endorse Obama
by ayawisgi
Thu Jan 10, 2008 at 06:28:51 AM PST
MSNBC is reporting that Kerry will endorse Obama.

BREAKING NEWS: John Kerry is endorsing Barack Obama, a person close to Kerry tells AP
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

As a Kerry supporter I'm glad to see him getting involved to stop the Clinton machine.

After all, they did nothing to help him in '04 and Hillary piled on with Karl Rove when Kerry needed a unified democratic front against the joke smear.

2. well, she didn't run in 2004, and opened the field for him.
I think it's more philosophical and issue based

But in the end I don't think a Kerry endorsement is all that helpful anyway.

16. I'm not.
I've read they often had tiffs during their campign - mostly because Edwards wouldn't stop running for president (even as vp nominee) and because he wouldn't go after Bush/Cheney (the vp nominee is supposed to be the bulldog).

26. interesting. I've never heard that before
the bulldog aspect of the VP position make sense to me on the campaign trail. If Edwards wasn't comfortable with that role in '04, I wonder if that means he wouldn't accept the VP role this time around.

32. He wanted to retain his Mr Sunshine image
in order to run for President again. He's obviously comfortable attacking, he does it all the time now.

36. That's funny- during the campaign I personally heard Edwards go after
Bush/Cheney about 1,000% more than Kerry.
The ONLY reason I supported Kerry in that election cycle was because of Edwards.
I volunteered, went to rallies, did phone banking & door to door.
At all the rallies I went to, I felt Edwards was the better speaker & he tapped
more in to the things I was upset about with Bush/CHeney.

I think Kerry was upset because Edwards came across better than he did.

20. I'm surprised also.
So Edwards was good enough to be his running mate
in '04 but now Kerry won't endorse him?

21. did Gore endorse Lieberman in '04?
No, just because he picked someone as his running mate doesn't mean he will support him for president.

I've been on the fence - kind of supporting Edwards, not knowing what to think of Obama.

Now I will support Obama.

If Obama gets the nod I will campaign for him just as hard as I would if my top choice won.

I am proud of all our candidates.

15. Yep. Kerry bails on the OH votecount and Edwards wanted to continue
and now Kerry wants to continue the delegate boost for a potential Obama run. Will JE bolt the party and run as the only anti-corporatist candidate after March '08 ?

25. That's a convenient retelling of the truth.
Edwards never did or said anything to indicate that he was pressuring Kerry to look into election fraud... UNTIL three years later when Edwards was trying to out-Dean Howard Dean and gain the netroots vote. Then he said he was for looking into it - but Kerry staffers say differently.

Edwards does stuff like that a lot, which is why I don't trust him.

37. So, Kerry didn't bail on the OH recount efforts ?
And did we ever get to the BOTTOM of BCCI, you know, the organization Kerry was 'looking into' while head of that Senate cmte on terrorism ? Kerry does a lot of stuff like THAT, which is why I don't trust him anymore.

It now seems BCCI chips are coming in re Sibel Edmonds and the nucular proliferation efforts. Wonder why Kerry's speaking up now ?

Returning the favor to the Clinton camp, I see. (Think election night, 2004, James Carville, Mary Matlin and a phone call.)
