Cimperman Delivers 'Welcome Back' Gift Basket to Kucinich

http://www.myfoxcleveland.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=5437269&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1

Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman is eager to take on Congressman Dennis Kucinich in the race for the 10th Congressional District, but Cimperman probably doesn't want to take on the Congressman's wife Elizabeth again.

Cimperman showed up at the doorstep of the Kucinich home armed with a "Welcome Back" gift basket...

Elizabeth Kucinich answered the door and said, "I am afraid we can't accept gifts from people who are wrapped up with Washington special interests."

Cimperman doesn't currently live in the district he would like to represent. She handed him a floral arrangement and said, "I understand you do not live in the district, so welcome."...

Cimperman – A Politician Bought & Paid in Full

http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/4245

...The question, however, arises, since Kucinich represents his constituents well and he pursues a progressive alternative to the usual status quo politician, what and who will Cimperman represent?

...In essence, are the developers funding Cimperman?

With each significant donor, the reporter should apply the standard, “Has the donor ever received, or might expect to receive, special favors from the downtown Councilman.”

The truth is that Cimperman has been a sponge for donations from the top developers in Cleveland. Or anyone else within reach...

Joe Cimperman is lead fund-raiser among candidates for Kucinich's seat

In the short sprint to become the next Cleveland congressman, Joe Cimperman has banked $226,000 for his campaign, which he launched one month ago.

Cimperman, one of four Democrats seeking the 10th Congressional District seat held by fellow Democrat Dennis Kucinich, raised far more money than any other primary candidate in the race.

The four announced candidates voluntarily shared their fund-raising totals, which can be verified when they file finance reports at the end of the month.

Cimperman, a Cleveland councilman who represents downtown, benefited from connections he has made with developers and business executives...

CLEVELAND -- Tenth District Congressman Dennis Kucinich is getting ready for a different kind of campaign for him.
He's won handily over opponents in his last five re-election attempts.

But now he's facing a batch of candidates including three present or former officeholders...

Kucinich has been unwilling to debate in previous re-election campaigns. But he claims he's already asked the City Club to set up dates.

...Kucinich did not name him but referred to Cimperman, who has quickly raised $226,000 for his campaign, as a candidate representing corporate interests.

"Visualize millions of dollars pouring in to try to squash our efforts," Kucinich said. He also complained that Cimperman visited his home Wednesday morning...

Kucinich described the visit as a surprise that was the most intrusive political act in his 40 years in public life...

Kucinich's portrayal of the event caused several labor leaders to yell, "We got your back."...

CLEVELAND -- Ohio's largest central labor body says Dennis Kucinich should keep his congressional seat...

The federation says Dennis has been and always will be their man.

And he has been their strongest supporter...

Kucinich says, "I know I am a long shot for the office of president. My run for the presidency is soley to give my district a voice."

1. Good luck LOL
Fat Chance of beating Dennis in that district.
When a candidates campaign signs and bumper stickers only say DENNIS! it is difficult to beat them.

2. There is a concerted effort to get rid of Dennis
He is virtually ignored in Congress, in the media, in the debates(which he is now being excluded from). Here is a sitting Congressman, introducing articles of impeachment on the floor of the House and all he rates is a couple of column inches on the inside page of the times. A man who is calling for impeachment multiple times in a debate, and the only question that Russert sees fit to ask is about UFOs:wtf:

I truly wonder where some of Cimperman's money is really coming from. Developers and local folks, sure, but I'm willing to bet big money that I don't have that a significant amount of that cash is coming from outside his district, and even outside his state. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if some of that money even had a little donkey stamp on the paper bands that hold the bundles together.

3. He is just an ambitious jerk.
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 07:11 AM by cyclezealot
In the past he has been a Kucinich booster. Has said, Kucinich is a good person. Talk is cheap. Raising 200 K in just a couple weeks. Silly question. Even on a national scale , the speed with which he has raised that kind of money is suspect. Kucinch has had a long hard road with Cleveland's Republican rag and a downtown restaunteur has long been a thorn . That restaurteur has all kinds of irons in the fire with downtown developers, as I recall the story. / Question , has anyone bothered to Google Cimpermans' funding sources yet. / The FEC soon will. Still , I fear Kucinich need reasure local consitiuents he is there for them. Constituents need constantly know they are loved. / The thing Kucinich needs reassure Clevelanders, his taking to the national road is not for vanity. But taking Clevelanders' urban agenda to a national stage , where it need be elevated.
/ None the less, our next check will be to , Re-elect Congressman Kucinich and not Kucinich for president. /
Cimperman wants to tell us his representing Cleveland will enhance Clevelander's chances for Healthcare reform, peace, or trade, I say he is full of crap. Dennis , pay attention to the local scene please. Constituents have short memories and are sort of nervous nellies. We desperately need your voice to counter those who triangulate.

4. anyone know where to send a check for Kucinich's congressional race.
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 07:16 AM by cyclezealot
That will be the next one this family writes. A website has not yet been set up Kucinich for Congress. ITs About time. / One hope. We have contributed to Kucinich for Presidentfar more than we can afford. . I hope any excess funds in his presidential race can be converted over to his congressional race.

8. Joe Arpaio.
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 08:23 AM by cyclezealot
I long ago read, many downtown business interests / banks have always been hostile to DK. We know about Muny light. Who/ what is this Joe Arpaio. The downtown restauntereur. ? The county AFL CIO has just endorsed Kucinich. That should be Clevelands most influential political force. / It is such a shame that this city councilman who has been a progressive force, would sell his soul so quickly.

10. one reads the Cleveland Plain Dealer's
blogs for commentary feedback. What a bunch of freepers live in Cleveland. It was a shock. The Plain Dealer's readers' responses, they sounded like a bunch of Birchers.

he represents his district very well, and I suspect most of his constituents know this...

12. It would be rich to see Dennis lose the primary and run as an indy
For his congressional seat.

I wonder if he would get more support around here than Mr. Lieberman did?

(admittedly I don't know if Ohio has "no sore-loser" laws)
