why is it so difficult to just implent hand recounts to compare against machine tabulations?

we know how easy it is to hack the tabulation machines and that they have built in acceptable error rates.

why dont we for the next 4 elections set up a system that every machine tabulation is automatically hand counted so that we can put to rest our fears of having our elections decided by unknown people.

trust but verify.

1. The short answer is money
...nobody in government wants to pay its people to do a recount. That's why they privatized the elections in the firts place.

Hell, look at those two yutzes in Cuyahoga County who rigged the recount so they wouldn't have to do a full count.

Also, many machine tabulations can not be hand counted at all. So the Fraudistas will just turn their efforts to districts that have touch-screens with no paper trail.

2. I think a whole lot of people would volunteer to count votes for free. People
who could be bonded or whatever it takes to make sure they are reliable.

3. That's how we did recounts in the punch-card days
..of course, back then we had voter-marked paper ballots, so it was possible to DO hand recounts.
