2. Get thee to thy basement
or the lowest point in your house in an interior closet. Take water, some food, a flashlight, and reading material. Cell phone would be good as well. Take care, my friend!

5. No real basement to speak of
Couple tables I could dive under. Seems to be letting up a little now but there were some scary gusts going on.

7. Go to an interior closet
or your bathroom, then. When a tornado came through a town I lived in, I didn't have a basement either, and went into an interior closet. Scary listening to the wind and hearing tree limbs crash, but I stayed safe. You do the same!

9. We went through a really nast ice storm, almost 10 years to the day I might add. gulp
and a microburst which pretty much made our whole county look like an A-Bomb hit it. So weather related fear is nothing new to me. Me and the dog are going in the bathtub if it starts blowing again.

4. That came through Ohio about midnight and it was powerful!
The gusts were so bad that our big gas grill with attached propane tank was blown across the deck. The good news is that the system is really moving so it will be over pretty soon. Stay low. Peace, Kim

23. That can change in less than a week ... as long as the lake isn't frozen over. (It's not.)
As a 9-year resident of Rochester, it's a weather pattern I knew intimately.

14. whoa. be careful.
it's getting really windy here in the kingdom, but nothing like that- yet. Our problems are more likely to be flooding from the snow melt, I think.

17. The only good thing about my shitty apartment is we rarely do lose power
As I said, about 2 blocks away actually, a house lost its roof and power is off for a good chunk of the city but where we are seems to be hooked into a different circuit. I think we're close enough to the river that we're tied to the hydro plant that supplies the main commercial stretch in town. So when something crashes near us we're fine but if the business district goes down we get nailed. It's bizarre.

Be careful! If you have sirens in your neighborhood and they go off, head for shelter!
