If Barack Obama first tells me that he WILL NOT let this man spouting BIGOTRY in the name of Jesus to be Master of Ceremonies, I'll believe him; then when it happens anyway, Obama is a LIAR. When this same man is not REFUTED by Obama, who then says we just all have to RESPECT EACH OTHERS' (FUCKING) OPINIONS.....(my FUCKING COMMENT)then Obama has condoned BIGOTRY.

UNLESS he repudiates, I WILL NOT support him. I WILL NOT put his sign on my lawn. I WILL vote for him if he is the nominee and I can conscience it, of which I will have to decide when the time comes.

The LGBT community has shown me LOVE and ACCEPTANCE when I got NONE from ANYONE ELSE, INCLUDING my extended family. To betray that is despicable.

It'll never be dead to those of us who feel intensely BETRAYED by someone that we thought would empathize with us. He's a fellow member of a minority group, right? So many of us *still* haven't gotten over that sickening sense of betrayal, of being traded for a few fundie votes.

What pisses me off the most are his desperate hand-wringing supporters, looking for something, ANYTHING to blame, trying to say that we GLBT people that despise Obama are secretly racists. I can't speak for every GLBT person in the world, but I can speak for the ones I know and love, and we are NOT racists. We've been kicked in the teeth too damned many times by bigots to want to become bigots ourselves. I just can't stop being infuriated over the way that man sold us down the river.

I don't think Obama is a homophobe or a bigot himself, but when he knowingly associates his campaign with that kind of disgusting right-wing rhetoric, how can ANYONE expect us to sit here and say nothing?

If he loses this primary, it might be the best thing for him. Then in 2016, he can get his priorities in proper order again, and remember that he cannot insult a big chunk of his base for the sake of reaching out to a few religious nuts in a state that no Dem is likely to win anyway.

8. I just don't know TD.

We are political allies, you and I, of the same era with the same background of fighting the machine. I can't for the life of me think or act any other way than I do. I don't really care what people call me, I am who I am. I don't care what they think of me really and I don't sway just because of small things. Those small things are what are firing this election and probably have been firing all elections but I was too blind to see it then. I don't know if I am right about everything or many things but this one thing I do know, people must be equal or this country and everything about it will remain a sham. We have never been what we claim to be so I became sick and tired enough to drop out of the party and wing it. This is my stand. Equality now.

I think there are many people who are very afraid and that is part of it. I don't blame them, I am afraid too but I am making this stand. To me it is the one most important thing. Everything else is important but I can't see people treated this way and we are barely standing still now, if we don't fight hard we are but moments away from backwards movement. That movement frightens the hell out of me.

I want it all fast too, I do remember that but I know now it takes time and bodies and work, lots of work to move issues like this that to you and me seem no brainers.

Well it felt good to get that out anyway :). I am off to file a PAC report at the SOS office. The one thing that has kept me relatively sane is doing the work. I am fully committed to this, proud of it and damned determined we are not going to lose the ground we gained the two years we have been in existence. Keep it up. People may think it is obnoxious but this is what it takes. Check this out. It might give you encouragement, although I don't think you need it. Even in Kansas we are moving. Edit to add: I guess what I don't get is the justification. We all have our issues. I believe other issues are very important but not as important as mine and I assume the reverse is true. What I can't fathom is the excusing of certain candidates for what they have done. We never said they were horrible candidates until we learned that they knew what they were doing before they did it and let it happen anyway. Then, under the guise of unity (?), excused it as a teaching moment or a moment of inclusion. Not to apologize makes it intolerable to me in a candidate.

I hate to move you away, lord knows we need the numbers and the money but......... We actually have a very hard time paying our lobbyist every year. Our lobbyist is a straight Republican and he is excellent and very hard working. Whooda thunk that one? Without him we would never be able to cover all the legislators personally and he gets his foot in the door with the Repubs.
