Hillary + Obama = 75%. Truth = 1%.
Thanks, corporate media, for helping Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel get a combined total of 1% in New Hampshire. Kucinich got 1% and Gravel got an impressive 0%. For telling the truth without reservation and standing up for progress at every opportunity, they were rewarded with non-existence.

And thanks, NH voters, for doing exactly as your TV masters told you to. As the Bible says, "well done, good and faithful servant." Surely the status quo will reward you with more of the same, which is what you voted for. For a preview, just look how much the centrist Democrats in Congress have done.

I'll vote for the Democratic nominee in November. But since it's going to be Hillary or Obama, I can't see a reason to care what happens until then. They are identical in my view and it makes no difference to me which of them is elected. Either is better than a Republican, but that's not saying much.

I think I'll go do something else. Waiting for genuine progress is more tedious than watching paint dry. My sincere congratulations to the Clinton and Obama supporters, who have had a very good night.

5. Thank you, it's going to need all the help it can get.
Those of us who feel like the mainstream candidates give us no voice need to keep things like this in view. We settle for sitting down and shutting up too often.

30. KICK!
It is obvious.. whoever the media wants to win will win. If Kucinich had recieved as much attention as Clinton / Obama, his votes would have reflected it.

I love this country... bunch of free minded progressives, thats for sure ;)

I'm not a fan of the top two/three either, but you're giving the media too much credit. Look at what Fred Thompson has done so far, and he was the media darling a few months ago. There is some part of free will going on here.

6. You're right.
I did try to hint at that, too - it's not all the media's doing. A large part of the responsibility lies with those who voted for the status quo because the status quo is exactly what they want.

Well, once again, they are going to get it. I hope they like what they are buying.

8. Yes, it's exactly like that.
I've known for a long time that the last thing people really want to hear is the plain, straightforward truth. Anything is better than that, and people will do just about anything to avoid hearing it.

7. hell look at what they did to edwards...
dennis was censored by the corporate media and the democratic party. the only reason edwards is still there for their amusement and of course he does have a lot of supporters. the msm has chosen-a young charismatic black man against a seasoned baby boomer woman. they cannot have the race between edwards and obama. i will disagree with you on obama or hillary ,hillary is not an agent of change where obama may have a chance. as proggresives i guess that we can hope for is that someone at least tries to change the direction of this country

10. Yes, what was done to Edwards is defintely another example.
I didn't mention Edwards in the OP because he did at least manage to get 17%. But you're absolutely right - the media has done their best to erase him from existence, too.

I guess I can take a little comfort in the fact that even if nobody in NH could handle Kucinich and Gravel, at least 17% did try to support a more mainstream presentation of progressive values by going for Edwards.

What little hope I have left for this election meaning anything lies with Edwards now.

16. Yep, that's another big part of it.
For me, that ties in to the whole media thing. Money means momentum, and momentum means the media pays attention and ignores everyone else. Add in the fact that the media is run by huge corporations who hate progressive values, and you have a recipe for what happened tonight. The TV made it perfectly clear who the "viable" candidates were (the ones with shitloads of money), and the voters went out and did what they were told.

SPEND their BIG MONEY on the Media.

If you are a Media Executive, do you want a $10 Million customer, or a $100Million customer?

28. Couldn't tell you
Because personally, I wouldn't dream of involving myself in something as regressive as big business. I have more respect for bricklayers than most business executives, including the media variety.

But I suppose if I were a bricklayer, I'd rather get a $1000 job than a $100 one. :)

19. I will be voting for Edwards.
He's no Dennis Kucinich, but he's light years ahead of Hillary and Obama as far as progressive and populist values are concerned.

But the media masters have already decided he will not be allowed to have a chance, so I'm not optimistic about his chances.

He's got my primary vote anyway, though. Kucinich won't be on my state's ballot.

24. Lobbyists = money
Every time we are reminded that democracy is for sale in America, it's a disappointing reality check. But it really is all about money. Media, financing, lobbyists... all about money. He (or she) who has the most cash wins.

And they are still trying to tell us this is democracy? I'm getting more and more skeptical of that all the time. Looks a lot more like plutocratic oligarchy to me.

You know, it occurs to me that maybe if more voters knew what the term "plutocratic oligarchy" means, we might be getting somewhere... but why bother ourselves with big ugly words when we have bread and circuses?
