I'm trying to take a break but this place keeps dragging me back with all of its information and news and stuff. At first I just signed in to answer any linging posts from my last post, but there's so much going on that I can't help comment on things.

I'm waiting to hear results from the NH deal and I don't want to turn on the talking heads today. The current state of silence in the house is too golden.

I haven't weighed in on a few of the major issues of the past couple days...like Hillary's "tears." Gawd, who cares? I imagine the whole thing is particularly frustrating, and frustration can often lead to tears. I think the response some people had to JE's comment was laughable, though. The job is hard, and campaigning for it is hard too. Emotions will be raw at times. I don't consider his words any sort of a criticism. Merely an observation about the trials they're all going through.

And, yeah, the sexist commentary here annoyed me as well. I don't like sexism or racism in any form, and I find myself feeling sympathetic to her frustration and angst.

Then there was the spamming of the board with Obama's position statements. Personally I never believed he didn't have any positions, but that his speeches were very soft on details, playing to the least common denominators of electoral manipulation. The vast majority of Americans aren't going to go to his website and read what he has to say--they're going to go vote based on what they hear him say on the TV. And when he neglects to say anything of substance, it feeds into the whole "rock star" image the campaign seems to be projecting. You know--"oh, details aren't important. Vote how it makes you FEEL."

I don't care for that approach, no matter how well it seems to be working. It lowers the bar, in my opinion. I think Americans SHOULD be enticed to be more interested in policy details and less likely to vote based on emotional responses.

But maybe that's just me.



Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. This year's Preditors and Editors poll is up and running. I'm on the list again. I'd appreciate any help you might give.

I'd vote for one of my dogs, but none of them would make a particularly good POTUS. My shiba is far too self-serving and cunning, the pomeranian is a hyper-aggressive demon (I think he's a closet neo-con fear-biter, actually), the min-pin is just too reliant on mom, and the jindo wouldn't get along well with the military, hating uniforms as she does.

I enjoy your posts on political topics, don't like it's-all-about-me or loungey posts of any kind by any poster in GD. Just a thing with me I guess.

I remember when DU-GD use to be just about politics, now it seems it's pretty much everybody's lounge. Puppy pictures, weather reports, medical reports and lots of personal drama are the order of the day. Kinda sad IMO.
