Is partisanship really a bad thing?
I heard an idiot on Democracy Now saying he was voting for McCain because he was tired of all the partisanship and wanted change. LOL. McCain, while he used to have some good points, has been in Washington forever and is not exactly an agent of change. And just what is wrong with a little partisanship? The Republicans are all suddenly jumping on the change bandwagon but their kind of change is not the kind of change we want.

The Democrats have been bending over backwards for years to compromise with Republicans but the only compromise acceptable to Republicans is that we give in to what they want. Now, hopefully, we will gain seats in the House and Senate so that we can actually get things done without threat of filibuster. I want a little partisanship in Washington because you cannot compromise with a rabid dog, which is how I see Republicans these days. Especially the fundy kind who want to quarantine aids patients or strip women of what little reproductive freedom we still have. As far as I am concerned there is no compromising on women's rights, gay rights or the environment. And any candidate, by their actions or by their associations, who reveals that they will compromise on those issues will NEVER have my vote.

1. I guess you can't vote for anyone then
If you think there's anyone out there who will not "by their actions or by their associations" compromise on those issues, I've got some swampland in Arizona to sell you.

2. good point
I am old enough to know "bipartisan" is a smokescreen coming from the conservative, PNAC crowd. Although I'm willing to forgive people past mistakes, they haven't admitted any. They're only concerned with whining about not getting their way.

When they say they want to get along, I think it mostly means that they know people don't want to be combative -- which I understand completely.

Yet I truly believe that people who are sincerely "tired of the fighting" don't understand what they're up against when they say that.

Just making ends meet is hard for so many in our society. Trying to understand what's going on politically is not high on their priority list if they're exhausted. Been there, done that, and I know it's hard to garner the energy to try and figure out which candidate is sincere.

IMO, the MSM bears much of the blame for our country's cumulative ignorance.
