Paris, January 6
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who will be visiting India later this month, is to marry his new girlfriend, the former model-turned-singer Carla Bruni, a French newspaper reported today, claiming a wedding was “imminent”.

Citing several anonymous sources, the Journal du Dimanche said the couple, currently on a private visit to Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II, are believed to have set a wedding date for either February 8 or 9.

I find it hard to believe that he just met this woman, fell in love with her, etc., so soon after he broke up from his wife.
Oh well, it doesn't matter to me. A cheating husband is hardly news.

3. Didn't the French wonder

why so many Americans were bent out of shape over Bill Clinton's affair? I think they have a different view of sexuality than many in the US--please correct me if I am wrong. If there are any French DUers, let us know how the French are viewing this development.

7. I'm not french, but it was reported his popularity is taking a serious hit

because of him spending time on such frivolity and not on the decline in purchasing power.

The french, like much of Europe, do have a liberal outlook on sexuality. Things like Nipplegate make all of us laugh :-).

BUT they are overrated in terms of being great lovers - a french kiss is nowhere near the longest in Europe. They are just better in talking about it ;-)
