We've been waiting for the youth to be engaged, and it seems they have been...at least right out of the gate. Hopefully they will remain authentically engaged in the process. (Note: And hopefully they will have enough patience to let the process play out.)
Obama is largely to thank for the youth involvement, IMHO.
I have a teenager; that said, I'm STILL not trying to diss today's youth. ;) Not at all.
What I wonder is how the "instant gratification" aspect of our society, especially the youth, will handle the various potential outcomes of our primary process.
Also, if they stay engaged and vote for whoever the Dem nominee ends up being, will they represent something many of our elected officials haven't faced in a while: voter accountability. Will they, in essence, have a large enough, committed voice, for a LONG TIME to tell our candidates, "Put up or shut up."
The AARP voters were always thought to be formidable, but it doesn't seem there has been backlash when the candidates haven't come through for them.
My hope is that all politicians start fearing the people - instead of it being the other way around - and hopefully the youth vote will present that very message.
That's another reason why I feel impeachment of Bushco is so important: to set a worthy example of accountability...cause and effect...for today's American youth.
