My point #1 Obama wants to include GOPers in policy-making, WE don't
As Barbara Boxer said, elections have consequences. The last thing I would want Obama to do when he's putting together health care legislation is allow the Republican losers of the election to write a single line if I could help it. I would want Obama to be the expression of the electorate that got him in the White House.

Republican policy will have been rejected. Respect that. Make your legislation, push it hard and if Republicans don't like it, they'll need to win elections to do anything about it.

Edwards' governing strategy, as he's expressed it in the debates, is to heed that electoral voice, not to second-guess it through some illusory belief in the "good faith" of Republican opponents. Obama's is to "be inclusive" of non-progressives. That's why I back Edwards.

1. What if GOP-controlled Congress?
Not trying to be snide, I'm curious what people think.

21. There won't be a Repub congress, not until people forget
The republicans will likely get spanked until at least the next decade. Sadly, the American people have really short memories.

4. Maybe Obama is talking about people like..
---William S. Cohen?

He could be potentially valuable in any administration.

5. Olympia Snowe, Lincoln Chaffee, Jim Jeffords
What if we had treated them that way? Olympia Snowe is the one who held out for the 10% tax bracket. Jeffords gave us a slight reprieve. Chaffee spoke out occasionally and was helpful on the environment and other issues.

You want to just tell them all to go fuck off, the way they did??

This has got to end.

You don't toss them away. You do what the term suggests.

9. We've had enough moderation
Moderate health care access means 47 million not covered and many millions more BARELY covered. Moderate foreign policy meant we make half-hearted motions to try to get allies before we launch a war of aggression on a nation that posed no threat to us. Moderate tax policy means the middle class pays half its income in taxes and Exxon pays none.

Moderate government ethics means corporations can buy NEARLY all the candidates rather than ALL of them.

I'm ready for some Lefty extremism myself.

18. Damn Straight Fuck Moderation
That is just a term used by the Thugs when they can't get their way and want a bit of the pie. There is no moderation..think this...you have a six year old told no and she argues with you to let her have some coke and then she will eat her candy.....um no dear that shit isn't going to fly. The Thugs pull out the moderation card as if it is some great equalizer when they would mow you down in a second if they could. Fuck moderation, it just means giving the greedy bastards one more chance to fuck us. FUCK THEM and FUCK MODERATION. Ram a leftish agenda right up their tight fucked up assholes!

Never play nice and fair with an opponent that has fucked you more than once, the gloves need to come off and the LEFT jabs need to be clean and mother fucking HARD. Nose bleeding HARD.

7. I know he's said something like that before...
...but what I get out of his speeches - me being a casual observer / non-supporter of any candidate - is that he wants a coalition of VOTERS from both sides, not necessarily legislators. When I heard him in Iowa, what I got out of it was moderate and Republican VOTERS joining Dems to sweep in that word everybody's leaping on - change. In other words, a people's movement to take back govt from lobbyists and, by definition, the GOP. That was my take.

20. Agree, disagree
This divide between the "Bloods and Crips" needs to be healed somehow. I know, I know, I'll get a lot of shit for suggesting this, but politics in the past few years has gotten just plain ugly.

Hold the thugs at arms length at least. Bill Clinton tried to reach across the aisle and got burned pretty bad by them. I say include them somewhat but be sure to show them who's boss.

27. K&R! I absolutely agree.
What's wrong with my country? We need someone to stand up for the working man. Someone who'll make sure that criminals are held accountable. I don't believe HC or BO will do that. The Bush/PNAC cabal will get away with everything! :grr:
