4. It depends on what he was running from.
I mean, I wouldn't tell him anything if something bad enough was chasing him.

10. Some around here think a Jesus is running
When the new messiah produces loaves and fishes, i might believe, but until then, "Belief is the enemy of truth".

12. I'm saying that bagging on a man for promoting unity
is pitting yourself against some very powerful historical figures.

It was either going to be Jesus, Ghandi, or MLK.

16. You're comparing apples to oranges. Putting Jesus to one side, Gandhi & MLK were activists
Activists have a different role in the system than office holders. Activists make the populace aware of social problems, and often demand broad stroke remedies. They push their own agenda as The Thing We Should Solve First, regardless of what other problems society is facing at that moment.

Office holders are responsible for:
1.) Confirming that the activists are right - - that it really is a social problem
2.) Confirming that it is a social problem of such magnitude that it needs to be fixed now (or soon)
3.) Figuring out a way to fix the social problem that helps society more than it hurts society
4.) Finding a way to implement that fix
5.) Monitoring the fix to make sure it's working the way everybody expected
6.) Tweaking or scraping the fix as necessary

As citizens, it is our duty to make sure that people running for office explain up front what their proposed policies are in detail, or we're not doing our job.

A hugely exaggerated example: A candidate for public office says "There is too much poverty in America. Elect me and I'll fix that."

What are you voting for if you vote for this candidate? Are you voting for a well thought out, complex series of economic and educational incentives that will increase the earnings of 10% of the families now below the poverty line over the course of twenty years? Are you voting for a poorly thought out plan to create a huge new welfare program that is so complex it helps no one and is so costly it causes the government to remove major funding from programs you think are the most important ones? Are you voting for a Communist revolution that will redistribute everybody's income so we're all equally poor? Or are you voting for somebody who has absolutely no intention of doing anything about poverty and is only saying that to win your vote?

Until the candidate provides specifics about their plan to end poverty, you won't really know what you're voting for. And you'll probably be unpleasantly surprised after they're in office and implement those policies.

25. Nailed it... ouch.
 Reminds me of an old Bill Hicks bit about Jesus.

Paraphrased: "Jesus gets nailed to a cross and dies for our sins. So what do his brilliant followers do? In preparation for the second coming they start hanging crosses everywhere. Tell me this, if you were Jesus, would you ever want to see another fucking cross again?

18. I'd say: Love your parables, now be sure to hire a policy wonk to implement them!
I'm one of those who is quite certain Obama is no Messiah, but he is a policy wonk himself.

As Mr. H would say: He can't walk on water, but he sure can swim fast.

29. I'd be all like, "Yo, Rabbi!! Does a kite need a string to fly?"
"And if so, then how much and can I roll it up on a funky stick? Or, if not, is it still a kite? Cept a kite without a string? Or is it then like a UFO er'somthin, just sailing around on the wind like an empty bag of Doritos? Or maybe Cheetos?"

31. Jesus chased the moneychangers out of the temple
Jesus knew how to lay the smack down when the "entrenched special interests" had it coming. He was incredibly hard on Pharisees, hypocrites, the rich, and many others. Jesus was so committed to fighting the evils he saw that he got himself hung up on a cross.

Jesus was not about "kumbaya."
