Poll question: Is Primary 2008 worse than Primary 2004?
Just curious to see how GD/GDP 2008 stacks up against 2004.

1. It's much worse this year than 2004..........
The supporters for one of the candidates have shown themselves to be quite vicious.

3. Worse. They still bash the 04 primaries and nominee
Thankfully, I wasn't around during the 03/04 primaries.

4. I'm one of the few that voted "no"
From what I remember, it was just as vicious here on DU but without the laugh over the fact that the republicans are now more disorganized and confused as we usually are this time of year. ;)

Don't let the passion here get you down. It will get better.

6. Can't really compare. Remember all the DU Rule changes?
Remember when the tombstone factory was working overtime?? I was a moderator for 6 months then - and that got me a close look at the underside of a lot of rocks.

:puke:

8. Other: I wasn't here for primary '04, but I will say I've seen some pretty f**ked-up posts
allowed to stand, including some obvious LIES. I haven't even decided for sure who I will support (though Clinton isn't my first choice, and I'm leaning strongly towards Edwards) but have found myself defending her as well as Obama from just...BULLSHIT.

10. Worse. Much Worse
It's just getting started. The first votes in the NH primary were cast a few minutes ago.

11. I still say that '04 was worse.
The flames were not the petty whining sorts of things I'm seeing this year. The attacks were really, really vicious. There were draconian rules introduced, and large scale bannings. The stuff I'm seeing this time around is actually pretty petty and superficial, though there's alot of it. I think it's just seeing the same things being posted over and over and over and over that makes it seem worse.

16. i guess that's why i voted yes
the forums just seemed to be constantly spammed with really, really inane posts this time around. perhaps it was more vicious last cycle, but it's just been painfully stupid this time around. i really don't see what everyone's complaining about. right now we've got 3 superb candidates that could possibly get the nomination.

17. Just as much at stake now, as then.... but
the stress is even higher I think. The fear has quadrupled.

Because 'we' just can't do another 4 years of this insanity! :grr:

The cracks in the wall are already becoming quite evident and profound...

Please vote your convictions (what is in your heart) and save our country!!

18. No. But then again I was insanely passionate for my candidate in '04.
And I'm nowhere near that emotional level this time. I support Edwards but I'm not going to cry if he gets knocked out. The attacks were much more personal in the last go-round. I just want us to win this next goddamn election no matter who gets it. I'll talk all the shit about how I won't campaign or donate if it's this one or that one but in the end we must have this election. And by May Obama or Clinton will be the best thing since sliced bread if my guy doesn't take it. We simply can't afford a President McCain or Huckster or Mittens or Rudy.
