to be real either.

4. Planned, but not to appeal to Independents.specifically
I think it was planned because of the way it was intertwined into her Access Hollywood interview. It was like they expected her to get emotional today so they could go with that theme.

13. This is the kind of poll I'd expect on FOX
But I expect that the Puke race is so boring that they must be playing on our turf. That's the only thing that can account for the vileness of the comments against Hillary. I'm not even a first choice supporter of hers but I sure feel the same vibe as I felt when they were trying to take Bill Clinton down. If that's the character of the folks that are going to post on DU for the course of the primary, I might just play elsewhere for a while.

NOTE: I'm a LONG-TERM contributor to this site one of the early posters since 2001 because I thought it stood for something, progressive politics played fair. I'm afraid I was wrong. I don't often post, but I read this site every day.

The creepy crowd has infected this board , the political operatives are playing a blood sport, no one will be the victor if they continue to poison this board.

It makes me sick to see the pleasure many are getting in taking a fellow democrat down.

18. authentic and real
As she believes, I was touched seeing something from her
that I had not seen before. Never the less she is not my
candidate.......ever.

Her vision and work, however, is from living her American dream
through the powers that got her where she is today. Her belief
in that system has to acknowledge a stained blue dress of Nafta, GHWB and Iraq
which hopefully wears heavily on her soul, as it does with voters and me.

Powerful family, that must be considered and listen to for national discourse.

It won't matter who gets elected as a democrat for the next 4 years,
the signs on 2012 are clear to me. Whoever is the president,
will not be able to stop the thing that is coming, economically, environmentally and politically and even the return of the sun spot cycle tells me that, unless, the planet and this nation, raises its consciousness and makes changes soon, we will face a painful operation of the mind, like it or not, which will have to destroy or remodel thought in a radical degree.

to address our survival we must do what is right and just, for all creatures and life on this planet.
The choice is yours.

We will either end in chaos and a slave to old ways of thinking or be free and one
with our planet and ourselves. The choice is yours.
End Rant

20. Who gives a shit? When you play this nonsense you are dancing to the BUSHIE TUNE!
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 06:20 AM by tom_paine
Ok, for the millionth time I will lay it all out (as I see it):

The Bushies spread their viral memes and have been doing so for more than two decades, mostly without opposition from our clueless Democratic Leadership and certainly none from our Corporate Infoganda Entertainment Machine, which some call the MSM.

Because these memes have been repeated so long without opposition, they are now Conventional Wisdom. Because they were generated by advertisers and marketers to work on the subconscious, like all good advertising and marketing, they are impossible to defend against, even IF we are trying to consciously defend against it.

These "Conventional Wisdoms", Orwellian Linguistic Redefinitions, etc., are now as much a part of our surroundings, both internal and external, as the air we breathe. It is inevitable. I once read of an American Diplomat in Germany in the early 1930s, who said after returning from a tour of how pernicious the constant Nazi Propaganda was, how it sort of seeped in.

Well, Nazi Propaganda is to Bushie Propaganda what the Model-T is to a 2008 Porsche 911.

Now, one of the Main Bushie Memes, one of the very first they designed, put out there, and hammered home, was that everyone opposed to the Bushies, mostly Democrats, NEVER took a position that wasn't coldly calculated with evil ulterior motives behind it. NEVER took a position based on principle, but spun like a compass responding to the wind.

Conversely, EVER Loyal Bushie who ever took a position on ANYTHING, was ALWAYS coming from the most impeccably pure motives, and NEVER carried ulterior "Trojan Horse Motives".

This is now Conventional Wisdom on a subconscious level, presumed by many automatically, bypassing their reason or analysis "circuits".

Brilliantly designed, no doubt the marketing and PR geniuses who figured that out and made sure to disseminate the Talking Point to all the Tim Russerts and Chris Matthewses of the world for distribution and serial repetition will likely be able to compare notes in HELL with the Joseph Goebbelses and the Julius Streichers of a bygone age, for they are essentially the same people, only their lies and memes are different.

MY POINT: While I am not supporter of Sen. Clinton, I despise this particular meme, since like most Bushiganda it is actually closer to projection. Not that the Democrats are pure, but that the Bushies tell lies like most people breathe. Thus, when we "play this game" WE SERVE THE BUSHIES!

Let's stop serving the Bushies with this bullshit, shall we? Let's stop trumpeting their memes for them and reinforcing the Bushie False Reality Bubble. Because every time we do, we help the BUSHIES!

We launder their lies and their bullshit FOR them, "See? The Democrats are questioning her sincerity, too!"

There are for more important things to be asking ourselves than whether Sen. Clinton's tears are real or not.

Be smart, DUers. Don't vote in this poll and let this thread sink to the bottom, where it deserves to be. I don't care that spreading this anti-Clinton meme might help my candidate, because it helps the Bushies a hundred-fold more, and it's just plain WRONG to focus on nonsense like this.

22. Wow. You know who's helped the Bushies a hundred-fold?
How about Clinton I letting poppy skate out of office untouched. How about Clinton II handing Bush a war on a platter and then going along with Iran also.

Give me a fucking break about helping the Bushies and take a long hard look at who you are defending there.

23. You missed my point! I'm NOT defending Sen. Clinton!
And I happen to agree with you about Poppy and the rest. 100%.

But damn it, there are other ways to attack Sen. Clinton that by using Bushie Tools and Bushie Frames.

For the same reason a lot of DLC writings attack US using the same Bushie Tools and Bushie Frames. Because it's EASY. They are well established, they are Conventional Wisdom and have the virtue of being instantly recognizable to everyone (and therefore effective).

And because they can churn the shit out without thinking about it. Just follow the O'Reilly/Hannity Template.

Know what? I am loyal to America first, my party a distant second, and my candidate a close third. THAT is why I said what I said, and it has NOTHING to do with defending Sen. Clinton.

Nothing at all.

The problem with being so calculating and focus-group-tested is that people will be skeptical of you even when you are sincere.

28. It was a VERY cynical move aimed at the overly sympathetic and gullible.
It got her to be the day's story the day before the primary. The whole time the crocodile tears were flowing she was making pre-written jabs at Obama. It allowed the Hillbots another chance at their favorite sport of lambasting anyone that calls her on her shit a sexist.

Amazing how self serving a little bit of "emotion" can be.

32. The facial muscles can't lie.
If you read faces you can see the muscles that are involuntarily used when someone gets emotionally choked up or close to tears. The muscles around the eyes, the mouth, and the chin contract in ways you can't imitate voluntarily. The muscles in the throat contract too making it painful to talk and sometimes impossible to talk. Even without tears it's obvious when someone is that close to tears.

It was a genuine emotional moment.
