Something for your consideration
I've been watching the Huckabee surge with increasing trepidation and dread. Not simply because this is another in a long line of right wing fundy candidates, but specifically because of his background. This man is not just a pastor(and believe me, once a Southern Baptist minister, always a Southern Baptist minister), but he is also seeking the highest office in our land. In essence, Huckabee is trying to make himself into a messiah.

Messiah, from the original Hebrew definition, is a priest-king. Not a savior, not a prophet, these are all definitions that have been loaded onto the term during the past two thousand years of Christianity. No, a messiah, in the original sense of the word is a man in whom both the highest powers of the state and the highest powers of the church reside. This is what Huckabee is trying to accomplish.

Does Huckabee know this, is he concious of the symbolism, is he aware of what he is doing? I would be willing to bet lots of money that he does. He received his education from both a Baptist college and Baptist seminary, and knowing the curriculum of such places, I'm certain that he is fully aware of what he is doing.

What this means is obvious, he is wanting to establish a theocracy over this country. What isn't so obvious is that this plan of his has a fatal flaw. If it is made known, well known that Huckabee is indeed setting up himself as a messiah, the good ol' anti-christ card, or something similar could be played in order to spook his fundy base and prevent them from voting for him.

Just a thought.

1. He isn't the only one that's got that messiah look these days.
