Folks forget that Bill Clinton ran in 1992 as the Man from HOPE! ..Obama Runs as Candidate of HOPE!!
Yo've got to know that many of us "long time voters" here on DU have heard "Hope Speeches" for so many Election Cycles that we sort of give up...having heard it so much.

For those of you who listened to Obama's Great Speech after Iowa Results...you might want to check out what Clinton had to say...WHAT WE WERE PROMISED on his Inauguration...after we worked for him...because he was "THE MAN FROM HOPE."

The speech Clinton gave is a little ways into the link...but it's worth the listen for those who don't remember the HOPE that BILL CLINTON promised us.

I wonder if it's the same kind of hope that Obama is promising. I've heard a lot about hope for decades from our Dems...but what happens when they get into the White House? They CHANGE!

This is worth the watch and listen:

1. Obama reminds me a lot of Clinton in 1992.
Which is why I'm currently an Edwards supporter.

2. youve convinced me.

abandon hope.

:sarcasm:

while they clinton (bill) and obama share this pre-election rhetoric, they are not the same people. nor would he be getting this response if he was just another bill c.

8. Hope comes in many Sizes, Colors and Shapes...unless it's followed with action it's
just a beautiful promise, though. That's what I'm saying. Some of us have been suckered with "Hope Speeches" that sound inspirational with prety ribbons and bells and bows...but I'd rather hear substance and a plan and an acknowledgement of the Criminal Activity and Shredding of the Constitution and what will be done about it would be NEW and just not "Pretty Hope" in a ribbon that appeals to our sensibilities as another promise that can be easily broken. that's what I'm saying.

3. i haven't- and in my opinion there is more common ground
between Bill and Barak than the word hope.

They both have a similar charisma- despite the unrealized promises from the Clinton years, and all the ups and downs, a president similar to Bill Clinton isn't unappealing to me.

but i can only speak for myself.

:hi:

6. I See It As a Cagey Move
He compares himself to Bill - while Bill's wife is right there campaigning against him! Talk about an equalizer ...

9. But...how does he prove that HIS "Hope" is different from what Bill offered we who supported him?
and the hope of all the others who used the SAME MESSAGE to get elected?
