Just give me my fucking candidate already.
Really. What is the point of all of this? Du'ers pissing all over each other. Candidates pissing all over each other. Third grade insults, playground taunts. What are we achieving?

Look I'm the first guy to take a candidate or a Democrat to the mat for being an idiot or for doing something stupid, but this is just nuts. Obama is a gay basher? Hillary hates kids with Autism? Edwards is too rich?

Unlike most DU'ers I'm not a "Democrat". I am a registered independent. I came here because I'm a liberal not a Democrat(well that and I fell in love with the top 10, thank god Earl will be back this week). So for me all this pissing and moaning means nothing. Normally I pick a third party candidate and vote for them. Obviously the last 2 elections required me to vote Democratic so I did. And I will again. But for me all this pointless bickering and infighting is nothing but embarrassing.

As an independent I can't vote in the primaries, so please can you all just get through this fucking bullshit and give me whatever gay bashing, kid hating, corporate loving lesser of many evils candidate I have to vote for this year. This way maybe I can come to DU and actually find like minded people who want to work together to improve the lives of all people, not just Americans, not just Democrats but all people.

1. In some states you can vote in
the primaries. And if you live in a state where that's not allowed, why not change your registration so you can?

And depending on how long you've been here on DU, I have to inform you that sadly, we seem to go through it every election year. There's an incredible amount of vitriol directed at each and every one of the candidates, bashing of supporters, demonizing the actual candidate. It's quite annoying, and it's why I don't usually post very much.

2. I'm an Indy that thankfully can vote primaries.
All I have to do is ask for which primary ballot I want. In fact, no one has ever asked me to declare a party either way in the 30 years I've lived in Georgia. Not when I registered to vote or at any time at the polls. They just ask me if I want Dem or Rep.

3. Can't in my state.. and even if I could
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 04:17 PM by walldude
I have very little faith in the top 3. so it would be a wasted vote anyway, I'm not ready to change my ideals just because Bush flushed us down the toilet. I'll vote for the Dem but not with any joy.. Been on DU since mid 04 so yeah I'v been through a couple elections. Never have seen it this bad though. I usually only post to make snide remarks about all the infighting, or to try something humorous to lighten things up..

4. Then vote for the candidate
you actually do support, even if it's not one of the top 3.

6. I like the bullshit infighting.
It tells me people are paying attention. Plus, the links posters provide give me a chance to check stuff out so I can make up my mind.

Had it not been for DU, Kos and Thom Hartmann I'd probably still support Hillary in the primaries. Now that I'm better informed about what the candidates stand for, I'm supporting John Edwards.

Lesser of all evils? Maybe. But in an imperfect world we can't have perfection; only the best possible. The primaries help us sort that out, and DU furthers the discussion.

DU bitchfests makes me all happy and shit. :D:thumbsup:

10. I don't mind getting some facts but when I see threads like:
"Obama Smog King of 2007" or "Obama Gay Basher" and "Hillary Hates Kids With Autism"(they are probably slight paraphrases, but totally serious threads) Then I read tonight how Obama's "followers" are in his spell and they are fools if they vote for him, and then I see how Hillary opponents are labeled misogynist or just don't want a woman president. I hardly see how comments like these are helping me decide who to vote for.

13. Shake 'em off
Like chaff from wheat, you have to sort through the nasty stuff to get what you need. I feel better ignoring nonsensical rants like that and focus on the substantive posts.

I thoroughly respect your stance, even if I don't share it. However, I see walldude as a thinker and would hate to lose his input just because a few goofs like to stir the soup.

8. I know, people are wound pretty tight.
Can't blame them a bit but all the infighting gets tiresome.

I have been a Dennis K fan for a long time. But, now I am supporting Edwards for so many reasons.

I like his spirit and passion, some call it anger - I couldn't care less. So, he's angry, so am I! So are we all!

I like that he is speaking truth to power. The corporations are straggling the life out of the middle class. It's the ugly truth.

And, we do need universal healthcare and a patient's bill of rights.

I am envious of the folks in NH who get to participate so early and set the table during such an important time.

I hope they all take a good look at my populist candidate, John Edwards.

Go Edwards!!!

9. I know you're serious, and I agree with your post but, walldude,
your subject line made me laugh out loud for the first time today! :spray:

Thanks for that! :hi:

Say it with me: it'll all be over soon, it'll all be over soon, it'll all be over soon.

12. I'm with you, Walldude, except I'm a Democrat.
My candidate is out of the race. I haven't found a reason to support any one of the three front-runners over the others. And, although I'll vote for the nominee, I don't feel inspired to campaign for any of them.

As much as I love politics, I feel like hibernating and reminding someone to wake me up when it's time to vote in November.

18. Yes heaven forbid there be democracy or anything
Politics is too messy for our gentle sensibilities. Heck, why even have a general election? Let Paula Abdul pick the next President and we can all watch the results on teevee.
