well - he's going to skip New Hampshire. See's he is going to lose in a big way - so he will show up for the debate then (ask his supporters for money) head to South Carolina.

1. Until he actually got in the race and started opening his mouth,
I also thought he was a shoo-in for the Republican nomination.

Every time he spoke, he shot himself in the foot. He's toast now, IMO. I believe the only reason he got into the race in the first place is that he allowed himself to maneuvered into it by his wife, who knows the ropes of national politics and has/had ambitions to be First Lady.

2. I think there were also big GOP players
looking for a savior due to the weak landscape. I think they wooed him and played his ego like a violin... bigger than reagan... blah blah blah.

Certainly the operative wife probably then went to work on it.

And then he opened his mouth and promptly said, on the record that it didn't matter that he was getting into the race late, and hadn't raised much money because people new him from Law and Order and he was going to ride that to the WH. Ouch.

4. Indeed. His ego and it being played upon was certainly a factor.
You're also right about his arrogance in saying "it didn't matter..." People want the process; they want you tested in the usual races and in the usual rough-and-tumble that is the primary process. Saying you're above that smacks of feeling an entitlement you haven't earned or been given by the voters.

5. I'll miss him - the from the campaign trail stories about him
were hilarious! The "barnstorming" of Iowa at the end of the race that was announced then when looked at it was... take a few days off before beginning... take a week off for Christmas... and spend about four days working the people in Iowa. *chuckle*.

3. I think he has a bad ticker. He looks tired all the time
When he started missing appearances that was my first thought. He doesn't have the endurance to run for president. Good chance it might kill him. I don't think that would upset his wife too much though. I imagine she has plenty of life insurance on the old boy.

yep, he really didn't look like his heart was in it ;-)

But on a more serious note, he does look like he isn't in good health.

8. heh isn't that about the time he got into the race?
they put all of six posts on the blog. Guess the blogger lost interest real quickly.

I wonder if there is a South Carolina blog - and what it says since that is where he is now staking his hopes.
