I'm tempted to install myself in Edward's Camp, film and stream it ALL over the Web, Fuck the MSM!

I'm getting damned TIRED of watching John Edwards and his lovely wife getting SHAFTED by the goddamned corporate owned MSM who've decided once again WHO THEY will ELECT for US.

I'm just about ready to seek funding all over the web from those who not only Back Edwards, but those that Might want to HEAR and SEE their Options, this is for US, not for Greedy damned Corps to shitcan one man's precious platform - one I happen to Believe in, and one that's being PROVEN as we speak here.

Edwards says the Corporations have a Stranglehold on OUR Democracy, and Sure Enough, he gets basically NO Airplay.. I see thread after thread here saying that Edwards is for all intents and purposes, INVISIBLE - Mediawise.

I need to follow that man either into the depths of Hell, or to the White House, with my HiDef camera, and Stream it all over the Web. I love how KOS, and many other sites talk about Liberals having some kind of IMPACT on the Elections, well, tell them to pony up some bucks and set ME loose, and they'll be SURE to have an effect.

Those of you who know me, know that I've filmed all the Candidates at the last gig in New Hampshire (hell, I caught a man that was ASSAULTED by Bob Novak - but that's another story), and that I filmed the Democratic Convention..

Others might remember that through the generosity of DUrs I deadeyed my ass from Hawaii to DC at the drop of a hat to Film the Downing Street Minutes Hearing, when all the other Media refused to cover it, I even CHASED John Conyers down a basement hallway in the Capitol building to get INTO the Hearing (told him I was covering it for the blogosphere, not there to film for the one sound byte to use AGAINST him, but to film IT ALL so that Everyone could see it.)

This attitude might have been why my political Flash attack ads and those of another DUrs brought in over 100 million hits to our site Takebackthemedia.com that first year alone. And the Hunger to get the Media back hasn't abated since we started, if anything the Want has Grown.

I'm not beating the bushes here for funding, just taking the temperature to see if WE Care enough about choosing our OWN candidates and choosing to BE the Media when the very guy who's pointing out the danger of Democracy Dissappearing via corporations is being Purposefully IGNORED?!

What can WE DO about it?

I know what *I* am willing to do.. Show the MSM what Dean showed them before, that the people of the Web are a FORCE to be Reckoned With..

I have been following this string, and believe me, I am excited about this and what you guys are saying.

I am very excited about John Edwards and want him to win so badly.....the press has really, really put the screws to this fine man and his wife.

I'm a laid off engineer for 4-years in detroit and doing only a part time job as a assistant teacher and make $10,000 a year with no benefits.

Last night after reading and seeing what has been going on I decided to give more money than I ever have to the Edwards campaign........I bet you the consensus is that many people across America are doing the same as I.

I belong to some other sites that are non political, but we've been discussing a lot of politics lately. Most everyone i talk to is liking Edwards. I contacted the Edwards campaign through their site to see if they would put together flyers and cards that we could print out on our home computers to pass out to people. We could do it, but I want the message to be consistent and true, and that more people than just DUer's doing it. I'm not a PR person, but we can blanket the country with Edwards messages. I live on a fairly busy street and am willing to put up signs.

And, I think we need a secret site (okay, just someplace that we can be as safe as possible from interlopers) to do planning and get togethers for just Edwards supporters. I don't like Edwards campaign site as it seems unwieldy. I love how DU functions, I guess I'm spoiled.

...being advertised to show people how to use their video cameras to shoot political footage, and then how to get it up on public access television for free. I got the impression that certain channels in every community *had* to devote a certain amount of time to this kind of thing. It's not like getting a piece on CNN, but every little pebble helps build a hill.

Your idea is a great one. YouTube is a great vehicle now, along with a viral e-mail campaign to draw attention to John Edwards' activities every day. And installing small teaser video clips in an e-mail can be done, too, to avoid having to follow a link.

...and we used a tool then that we hoped would help counter media silence about him. It was kind of a crude tool -- audio "postcards," that allowed us to send out an e-mail to a link with a "postcard," which was just a simple landing page that looked like a postcard, and contained an audio message.

At that time, we were also exploring a service to do the same thing with *video* postcards. In the process of exploring that, we discovered that the Dean campaign and the Kerry campaign were looking into that, also. The Dean campaign made really good use of grassroots e-mail campaigns, and I think we can do the same. And now with all these new video offerings that you've mentioned, I don't see why we can't have a groundswell of *media* coverage for Edwards.

But, regardless if you do that, or even do it at all, your point about it being moot if he drops out after NH, and the fact this would have been a great idea 8-10 weeks ago, certainly come into play. However, PLEASE do it if everyone involved says it sounds good to them (DU, Edwards campaign), as I'd give you something, and frankly, everyone giving 'something' would add up to a few grand which is more than enough to do a few weeks on a tiny budget of sleeping where people allowed you to, knowing what you were doing, and the rest going to needs as they arise if you can't get them donated. It sounds like someone is offering up the web costs to you for free, and of course, if you work on this and get it prepared to "go" immediately after NH and John says he's fighting on to super tuesday, you could do a lot in a few weeks! I would spend a lot of time on YOUTUBE putting messages ALL over the political videos about people needing to come see the people's candidate fighting for America because the MSM does so little mentioning of John and his beating Hillary Clinton in Iowa - they literally acted like he wasn't there...

Good luck with whatever you do, and I hope it works out. Maybe you can tell the Edwards camp to come see the amount of interest in this from just this one website. Who knows!?

I just heard that record donations are coming in John Edwards camp. They have been pouring in immediately after his 2nd place finish in Iowa.

This is getting me very excited............over 50% of all donations are from people who have not donated prior to this date. That's enough to send a chill up anyone's spine. Also, 90% of the donations are for less than $100.

This gets me absolutely excited because the general working man (or unemployed man) is seeing them. I pray that his message is getting through......maybe his money problems will be behind him. It appears this good man is showing hard work and sensitivity toward the citizens of this country is paying off.

You are exactly right that the media has influenced this (and all other) elections by choosing who to cover and how to cover them. Concentrating on cutesy like-ability questions, continually repeating nasty erroneous attacks, and most importantly, ignoring doing comparisons of each candidate's stands on specific issues, serves only the news shows competition with each other and promoting the news media "stars".

That's how real political leaders with real ideals and ideas like John Edwards get left out of the press coverage and fall in the polls.

We must make up for media's lack of responsible coverage.

All those people like myself, who were so energized thinking we could convince Al Gore to run, now need to realize that we already have someone quite similar who not only has decided to run, but is also willing to fight till the end, because HE BELIEVES IN OUR COUNTRY ! And we need to get behind John Edwards in a BIG way, ASAP! (I'm thinking we have about 4 weeks max to get John's message out.) Hell, John wouldn't throw in the towel even if he came in fourth in NH ( and he most certainly won't )! After all, he wanted to challenge the Ohio votes in '04 !

I think one reason that Stephanopolous and ABC are allowing John to be on Sunday, is because they've realized that their blanket NO COVERAGE strategy might actually backfire on them. If people start realizing how John is getting the shaft, they'll rally around him ( hence the recent spike in donations ), and his underdog status will continue to grow.

So YES ... we need to keep getting the word out, write those letters, post those comments on their websites ... and get symbolman to the campaign trail ! The fact that he's having to do this himself ( and how the DU community rallied around to support him ) will likely even become the story itself ! People Power ! That's the message Gore was saying all along ( and why he created Current TV ). You saw how one man with a camera was responsible for taking down "Macaca" Allen in Virginia hence throwing the Senate to the Dems. Never underestimate the power of one man and a camera. This story ( and evidence ) of the Media blackout/smearing of Edwards will resonate with the average American. And symbolman's actions will highlight this, and can only also INSPIRE them (us) !!

The way I see it, Edwards is the populist willing to take on corporate interests, and should be tapping into the same grass roots funding and appeal that Dean had in 2004. Unlike Dean in 2004, he didn't peak early and get taken down by the DLC. So, now is time to gain momentum as his message gets out. There have been some new ways to connect such as Youtube since then, that bypass the MSM. I would support that effort monetarily as I support his campaign directly.
