2. Iowa took a bit of a left turn in '06.

Dems picked up a bunch of seats in the state legislature and in many local races, and we picked up the governorship. Looks like '06 was the beginning of a trend.

7. And the amazing thing was, I couldn't find anyone who voted for George.

For a year or so, people were almost afraid to bring up his name to complain, as we couldn't figure out who voted for him and who didn't, and even though you wanted so badly to discuss his presidency, you didn't know who you could bitch to that hadn't voted for him. It wasn't until he screwed up so much that everyone was complaining that people would admit they voted for him, but there weren't many of them. So, how did he win Iowa? I always found that strange.

IA voted 1% more Dem than the rest of the country in 1992, 2% more Dem than the rest of the country in 1996, 1% more Repub in 2000, 2% more Dem in 2004.
That is a true swing state.
