Obama is the new Clinton. Edwards is the new Kucinich.
At least, that's what it feels like after reading the newly minted positive/negative comments on the "Greatest" page...

spot too. But I prefer Obama to Edwards.

11. But why should that even matter?
We're all on the same side! We should be happy if anyone seems strong and popular enough to beat the GOP.

13. IT should matter because they are the ones that get hit the most. IT is a bitch.
Frontrunners can't be as good as they could be because of that status.

4. That's about right.
It's shaping up as a battle between status quo corporatists (choose your flavor, Clinton or Obama), and a progressive populist. Kucinich lost credibility when he threw his support to Obama.

14. i agree about Kucinich
Kucinich has a BIG case of sour grapes i think. and it sounds to me like he shouldn't be running for elected office at all.

34. It pains me to say it.
Because Kucinich is perfect in his political positions. But he seems to have a problem in handing the ball off to someone who can take it to the goal line. In 2004 and now 2008.

that night, and Kerry, top of the ticket, told him 'no'.

31. The "wanting" is a myth getting more ridiculous every day. Kerry is just as responsible
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 03:39 PM by robbedvoter
but since he's not asking for my vote again, I am not focusing on him in the context of this election.

How can you guys still bring the "wanting" story up? Who stopped him? And what kind of fighter he is if he can't even stand up to the guy on the same ticket for what he thinks it's right?

37. from Edward's own account, he didn't even listen to Kerry when he was the VP nominee
proudly refusing to use the Kerry campaign's slogan. Also, both Teresa and John spoke many times about election problems in 2005, JRE spoke of many other things, but not that.

33. Regarding Kerry/Edwards
A few years ago, Kerry stated to a magazine that he regretted making Edwards his Vice President. Do any of you know his reason for doing so?

38. link please
Kerry has said NOTHING negative about Edwards. Bob Shrum in his book said that Kerry came to regret picking Edwards. In a NYT article a few weeks ago on Edwards, he spoke of how he refused to use "help is on the way" because he preferred "hope is on the way". That was his comment. In an election you want the slogans consistent. Help makes more sense, because we already had hope, but it doesn't matter - it was not Edwards' choice. If this was typical, Kerry's silence rather than criticism is admirable.

I think it would be a winning duo. They both sense it. I am an older voter and have looked at both very carefully. They are both very intelligent and want badly to beat the Republicans. So do I.

41. Which one? JFK was a Rockefeller-style centrist dem who was thrust by circumstance
And quite reluctantly,

Into supporting the policies of a burgeoning 60's civil rights revolution.

RFK had a change of heart and became an actual representative of the
civil rights / antiwar movement founding fathers. When he was killed
was when the Movement lost faith in electoral politics and began to
be destroyed from within.

Obama seems to be campaigning to be the new Bill Clinton ca. 1992.
