So, tell me why do we let the media pick the candidates again? Hmm?
I have held my tongue all day. I found the coverage of the Iowa fiasco dreadful last evening. Not so much the bizaare absence of Edwards news, but also the smoke and mirrors use of "entrance" polls before the process had started, the gas bag nit picking of why, for example, 50 year old women didn't vote for Obama on Tuesdays when the moon is in the first quarter, and the blatant defense of the worst rethuglican candidates in history (Hickory is such a nice guy) The media are picking our issues again (It's singing Kumbaya with the Rethuglicans, it's not Iraq anymore - which btw didn't match their beloved entrance polls in Iowa.) They are picking our candidates again (Obama good - Hillary bad - who's Edwards, Huck & Chuck nice, Romney smart, really, and the old guy from Arizona is da bomb) and (Obama's speech was good cause peeps were screaming, Hillary's speech was gracious and lady like, Edwards speech was crazy, whoever he is) And, also btw, what's up with Keith Olbermann? He was a big part of the fiasco last night. Where's the outrage at his performance? Hmmmm? H used the "entrance polls" from word 1, he dissed Edwards the 1 time he mentioned him among other diatribes I heard from him.

So, why do we let them do this?

We are going to vote against our self interests again. I know, I'm from Kansas.

Where is the copy of the Bhutto report on elections, media? Hmmm? The one about election fraud and rigging? If you have it, CBS and CNN, then we can have it. Cough it up.

5. who is running these horses?
it's not like any one can rise to the level of inclusion in presidential politics. Someone is backing these very few horses, and limiting the field. I wouldn't bet on such a race...short odds, and no pay-out.

6. I do not understand how they picked the candidates that won last night.
They were reacting to the candidates that Iowa voted for last night. For nearly two years, I have been told by
every pundit in DC that Hillary and Giuliani were my choices, my only choices. One of the best parts of last night was
the people of Iowa said: "we the people will pick our candidates." I hope the rest of the country was paying attention.

7. I will agree with you on "ENTRANCE" poll -- what a bizarre thing to use w a caucus
In the caucus it is possible to change your affiliation several times.

8. because "we" cannot stop them from doing it.
"our" representatives sold us all out, many years ago, and we have little say in much of anything anymore.

9. I found it remarkable that Dennis Kucinich name did not appear
on the screen, when he won so many of the online polls and he is so popular here at DU. Last night it was like he didn't even exist and the people in Iowa had only heard of three candidates. And not necessarily the best three. Three good candidates. But the extremely low votes for Biden, Dodd, and Richardson were sort of unbelievable. Its like they were playing a game already set up by certain rules. I couldn't have played by those rules. My vote goes to Dennis Kucinich. And even if Kucinich said throw it to Obama, I wouldn't have.
