Not everyone bought into the new Edwards
Edwards went through a rapid evolution from, some of his past votes are highly questionable, here and here.
He might not appear authentic to some as he apologizes for vote after vote by saying "I can't say it more simply than this: I was wrong"

3. Percentages
extrapolate, and Edwards dropped 2 pts in Iowa vs. 2004

2008:

Obama : 37.56%
Edwards : 29.82%
Clinton : 29.42%
Richardson : 2.11%

2004:

John Kerry 37.6
John Edwards 31.8
Howard Dean 18.0
Richard Gephardt 10.6

More people, less support among them.

6. If Obama did not have all that lobbyist money and Repug support
he would be no where tonite.

Let's not forget the mainstream media kept pumping Clinton and Obama, and rarely mentioned Edwards.

17. Well, I edited my response to change "Obama" to "others" supporters.
As for Edwards, he did remarkably well considering the amount of cash he had.

9. Edwards didn't win Iowa
Why are you still starting threads to bash him?

I assume you're an Obama supporter. I've said time and again here at DU that whoever wins the Dem nomination will get my vote. However, after all the hateful posts tonight by Obama supporters, I've changed my mind. I would never vote for Obama.

12. It's okay to start threads bashing the winner?
They're flying fast and furious tonight.

I don't support Obama, he won. That is all.

25. No, simply pointing out why some people aren't drawn to Edwards.
This is no different from the numerous posts, except the nasty ones, made over the past several days and weeks indicating like or dislike for a candidate based on an observation: some people did not trust Edwards.

You obviously are not a fan of Obama.

27. I was always OK with all the candidates

including Obama, until the gloating posts tonight by Obama supporters. There's no point in dissing the losers. Your man won Iowa. Even if Edwards drops out, Obama will never, ever get my vote - or the votes of the dozen or so members of my family who, like me, have been angered by reading certain posts by Obama supporters here tonight. Edwards has apparently asked his supporters to vote for Obama should he eventually leave the race. Sorry, John, we no can do.

So, mission accomplished. Your candidate won Iowa. Too bad the gloating of his supporters has cost him possible votes in the future.

33. Then apparently yours is someone no longer running.
Or maybe never was.

Regardless, because of the snarkiness of some of his supporters, my family and I won't ever be voting for Obama. I never thought there'd be a day when any of us would rather not vote at all than to vote for a certain Dem, but that's the way it is right now. Maybe taking some time away from here will help us get over it and go back to being loyal Democrats who'd do anything to keep republicanz from winning.

only Edwards' new message is populist? He still has a lot to prove, as does Obama.

23. No, that's not what I'm saying.
I was just responding to what I interpreted as you're implication that he's a fake. If that's not what you were saying, cool.

I think they ALL have things to prove, on both sides of the political fence, btw.

11. This is the kind of Obama campaigning
that will make him lose. Dems who attack other Dems so viciously in the primaries always turn into lambs when it comes to running against Republicans.

20. Not a Clinton supporter either, but
look around the board. There are several anti Obama threads, some nasty, with many recs. It would be one thing if they were isolated posts, but they are endorsed by many others.

The OP is saying that Obama won because some people were drawn to him and not Edwards, despite his new message. Both are untested.

Let's Obama becomes a JFK if he gets elected. Only if he becomes a JFK will be he justified in office but he sure better beef up his security if does so.

Right now I view Obama a Republican, not as JFK.

If he wants the JFK crown he has got alot of 'splaing to do. He needs a JFK platform, and that Obama certainly does not have.
