They are imploding. Blaming the media, railing about who's a baby-killer and who isn't, calling each other liars.

Quite entertaining.

I have said before that Obama would not be able to win due to latent American racism, but I would qualify that by saying if Huckaby is the repub nominee, Obama would have an excellent chance.

4. I don't like the guy who won our caucus either
As an American, I am allowed to express that.
Freepers or not, they still have the RIGHT to express their opinion.
I have NO respect for people who toe the party line just because
people tell them it's the "right thing to do" - even if they KNOW it isn't.

That mindset is how we got in to a lot of this mess with Bush.
The repubs did NOTHING to stop him because they wanted to show Unity.

If you don't believe in something or someone, go ahead and say it.

Huckleberry would appeal to the "good" Christians who want to help those poor widows, and Thompson to the Morans who want to nuke the Middle East back to the Stone Age. Many Rs wouldn't sweat the details -- they just know he's that dude they liked on Law & Order.

11. I think he would have a decent chance against a number of
their nutso candidates. I really think it is a "perfect storm" scenario and without the context, I don't think that in 2008 I would suggest that the latent/covert racism that still exists in American could be overcome - however there are very unusual contexts this year. Extremem public disproval of bushco and ALL of the candidates but Huckabee and Paul proclaim proudly that they would at least match bush if not beat bush in his horrendous policies (be they foreign policy, economic, health/insurance, etc.)

Freepland is but a small sample of how the GOP is imploding.

MR has mormanism going against him, but he's a good looking and Presidential type of guy, which wins over a lot of the mindless set.

...if they have their way. Religion will be slathered on thick by the White House, meanwhile the FEMA camps will begin to fill up.

Historically, theocracies are not known for compassion, they are militant and very punitive. It is a bit alarming how well Huckabee comes off on talk shows -- I'm afraid the truth is, he presents himself rather well. Hope I'm wrong about that.

domination.

They will want us to believe that this time would be different. It cannot possibly be. I've only googled this man's beliefs once, and skimmed what I came across, but gays are reviled, just to begin with. Give this sort power, and they'll most certainly use it.

If I were at a Huck rally, or interviewing him, I'd ask what he intends to do to include exactly the types he's spoken out against in the past, and go down the list of exclusions.

This type is in it for their own ideas, not everyone's benefit. Even his family look tense and miserable.

30. JM's integrity (ala just where does he stand) was greatly
compromised in the past four years. And now he spouts pure bushism rhetoric. There is a reason he hasn't been able to raise much money, he is entirely unbelievable. MR spent millions in Iowa and was beat by double digits by an unknown candidate (to many, until very recently.) And MR has an even more traceable and clear record of pandering to whatever voters he is trying to capture with no real integrity in governing per his rhetoric. I think both are such weak candidates that the GOP vote turnout ends up being quite weak. Given that the public sentiment doesn't extremely shift due to some external event - I think Obama wins. People are frightened for their economic security in a way not seen in severak generations. I think that bushco screwed the GOP pooch.

I am still undecided, but I have left my fear that Obama couldn't be elected due to latent racism (which I *know* still exists) at the door a little while ago - when I watched clearly how unviable for a variety of reasons, each of the GOP candidates is with the general electorate.

47. which Party?
Any party can become "evil". The name of the party is besides the point. At this place in time, it is my opinion that the republican party is severely corrupt. It is so corrupt, in my opinion of course, that it needs to be put out of it's misery. That does NOT mean I would favor a single party system, not even if it was the democratic party. (this has nothing to do with repubs or democrats)

As to which other party is "evil".. take your pic, they are all over the globe. If you were referring to the United States specifically.. it is enough for me to deal with the fact that for years my party lied to me, used me.. more than I care to list right now. I still have to many "anger issues" with them to even consider pointing my finger at others.

Geez, you only need to go back to the days of Eisenhower, who was less conserative than Bill Clinton on one or two fronts. Or, possible look to Barry Goldwater to understand the 1964 "Republican values" of in that election.

Evil domination knows NO boundaries. It just so happens to be alive and ready to implode in the party that CALLS themselves Republicans.

and historic eras where an existing political party disappears. The big question is what would emerge (more extreme or more centrist) in the vacuum that woul occur. Not saying that it will happen, but that it is a period where it *could* happen. Hasn't happened in more than a century.

I asked him why and he said that Obama hasn't been in politics very long, so he might not be as corrupt as the old timers. He also likes his message of "unity" and "change". I'm still not an Obama fan myself but it's encouraging to know that some repugs are so fed up that they are willing to vote against their own prejudices.

The freeps - bless their deluded little hearts - are convinced that the evil commie Vietnamese have thousands of MIAs in prisons in Vietnam and the only way to get them back is to launch a full-scale nucular attack on the dirty pinko commies this minute.

McCain had the audacity to actually talk to the Vietnamese government, along with that guy John Kerry (and we know what the freeps think of him) and conclude that there are no living prisoners of war in Vietnam. Well, that was it for the freeps and McCain.

For the benefit of lurking Freeps:

July, 2007
"Billing records show that former Senator Fred Thompson spent nearly 20 hours working as a lobbyist on behalf of a group seeking to ease restrictive federal rules on abortion counseling in the 1990s, even though he recently said he did not recall doing any work for the organization."

Fred Thompson is backing off his flat denial that he once lobbied for an abortion-rights group. He now says he doesn’t remember it, but does not dispute evidence to the contrary.

44. Santorum & Allen strongest candidates?
 Macaca did himself in

Forgive my following rant: I lay this disastrous field of candidates at the feet of the “all or nothing conservatives”. They threw Santorum and Allen (our strongest conservative Pres candidates) out of office in 2006 to teach the Republicans a lesson on immigration. Talk about shooting ourselves in the foot! Just think what the results tonight would’ve been if it wasn’t for this backlash from conservatives who were so mad they weren’t thinking straight.

Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 04:12 AM by krispos42
Fred has tested the "digital conveyor" teleportation device on a pig-lizard that was chasing Jason Nesmith, but the pig-lizard has been horribly mutilated by the process.

Jason Nesmith: (over the comm) What was that?

Sir Alexander Dane: Uh, nothing.

Jason Nesmith: I heard some squealing or something.

Gwen DeMarco: No, everything is fine.

Teb: But the animal is inside out.

Jason Nesmith: I heard that! It got turned inside out?

(The pig-lizard bursts, spattering the area with gore.)

Teb: (pleasant demeanour barely faltering) And it exploded.

Jason Nesmith: Did I just hear that the animal turned inside out and then EXPLODED?

Gwen DeMarco: Um... hold, please.

The Republican Party is the pig lizard, exploding after being turned inside-out. Teb is Ron Paul trying to speak the truth, Jason Nesmith is the general Republican population trying to figure out what's going on, and Gwen and Alexander are Rush Limp-baugh and the Faluffa Master trying to tell everybody that everything is fine as usual.

:-)

And a few that caught me up the first couple of times:

POTUS= President of the US (for some reason I kept imagining a Pontiff, quite a different thing)

SCOTUS= Supreme Court (not a male body part)

Congratulations, yours is the most idiotic post I have ever seen on this forum.

In 2000, McInsane came in 5th in Iowa with 4% and went on to to NH to beat the winner of Iowa, George W Bush 48% to 30%.

Which proves Iowan and NH don't mean a damn thing.

if Huckaby is the repub nominee, Obama would have an excellent chance.

Obama is your candidate? OK then, welcome to 4 years of President Huckabee. Mark my words, that will be the result if Obama gets the nod.
