"The church is certainly necessary for the people. It is a strong and conservative element." Who?
Huckabee?
Mittens?

Bush?

Nope.

Adolph Hitler. Per Speer's Memoirs p.95

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior... I am fighting for the work of the Lord." - Speech, 12 April 1921

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator"

"I am absolutely convinced of the great power and the deep significance of the Christian religion, and consequently will not permit any other founders of religion (Religionsstifter) ... I will protect the rights and freedom of the church and will not permit them to be touched. You need have no apprehensions concerning the freedom of the church.

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith. From our point of view as representatives of the state, we need believing people."

Does any of this cause anyone else to at least raise an eyebrow?

2. Hitler's religious policies and politics are incredibly complicated.
He discovered he could co-opt religion as a means of fighting Communism as did many others. However, his private views and policies paint a far more complex picture. He ordered the arrest and execution of hundreds of priests and ministers who stood up to his evil policies. In addition, in private he was contemptuous of Christianity.

In that sense, Bush is very similar to him. They both use it extensively for political gain, but personally don't buy any of it.

5. True. There are volumes on the subject to be found on the internet
alone.

It's been going on since the infancy of the papacy in their selling of Papal Bulls to acquiring lands by "inheritance."

8. Yeah. Too many Dems are biting on the same bait.
And I'm afraid they would be too willing to pay off the vote getters in these conservative religious circles.
