Hillary with a southern accent post...anyone have a link to that...
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 01:14 PM by xultar
I remember a few months ago there was a post about Hillary speaking with a southern accent.
Everyone reamed her because they said it was pandering.

Now someone posts the same observation about Obama and all of a sudden the same observation about Obama is a low blow.

Please explain it to me. Why is it people can say on thing about Hillary and it is applauded and say the same thing about Obama and it is a low blow?

Please explain it to me. Please explain it to me. Please explain it to me. Please explain it to me. Please explain it to me. Please explain it to me.

DU is losing all credibility.

Does anyone have the link to the Hillary thread I'm speaking of. I'm trying to find it in the archives. I want you all to see what you said about her and compare it to what is being said about Obama.

At the link below they question if Hillary would speak in a German accent at a GOP convention.

1. My recollection is that she was reading a piece written in dialect and read it as written rather

than "translating" it into the King's English.

2. I don't really give a darn if either one of them speak with a drawl..
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 01:16 PM by Kahuna
I don't really see it as an issue. PERIOD. But I'm in the camp that it's more natural for a black person to slip into that cadence from their experience with black churches where that cadence is common even with well educated pastors.

Some could make an argument for Hillary that she also has a lot of experience with black churches from her many years on the stump. Big friggin deal.

Randy Rhodes made a monumental issue of it, and has lost me as a listener because of her insistance on judging people she does not know personally. I say F-U Randi. I only wish I had the opportunity to tell her to her face.

11. I stopped listening to Randi a while back. I really hate to see people beat one of our own
for something they won't beat another of our own for.

It makes DU look like shit.

13. Lucky you that you were spared the "Oprah is a phoney for speaking
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 01:24 PM by Kahuna
black," a couple of weeks back. She totally jumped the shark. So she's been running promos saying that she's not a racist because she's calling both Hillary and Oprah out for doing that black preacher thing. I wonder who died and left her boss?

8. I agree. Both are low blows. Randi Rhodes has lost one listener..
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 01:18 PM by Kahuna
not just because she made a big deal out of Oprah (who I don't even like), but because she dissed her listeners for three whole hours when they tried to to explain it to her. But that wasn't what made me turn her off. While she's been on vacation this week, AAR has run non stop promos of her calling Hillary and Oprah phonies and it's so riduculous to call Oprah a deep south black woman a phoney for speaking with a drawl. She just totally got in my face. I couldn't even enjoy the other shows on AAR for her stupid promos trying to prove she isn't "racist."

I will now be streaming AAR on stations that do not include Randi in their lineup as I can no longer stand the sound of her voice.

Why would they beat Hillary for something for which they defend Obama?

9. None are as bad as Kevin Costner in his Robin Hood movie.
That was NOT an english accent.

Now, to address this and the Obama post. COATH people. It is a low blow no matter whom. Is THIS all you have to complain about ("oh dear, listen, a bad accent, etc etc")? Anyone using this, or childhood antics, to try and sway my vote, it isn't working.

14. Right Wing Propaganda Ministry at Work: Clinton was at Selma quoting freedom hymn as written.
Shows how low the right wing Democratic Party haters will go to attack a Dem.

Amusing to see right wingers attacking Clinton on behalf of African Americans celebrating their overcoming right wing hatred at the Selma Civil Rights March. African Americans audience did not seem to think she was inappropriate in directly quoting the freedom hymn as written and spoken.

http://www.newser.com/story/519.html?refid=YTF_S

The clip was culled from a speech in Selma in which Clinton quoted a hymn written in vernacular. Conservative commentators went to town, chiding her for trying to pass off the dialect as her own, calling it "Hillary-fried chicken." • Greg Sargent at Talking Point Memo's media blog noted that Hilary attempted the dialect only when she quoted the lines of what she called "James Cleveland's great freedom hymn," which begins with the lines "I don't feel no ways tired/I come too far from where I started from."

15. Boy they really are spewing crap now aren't they
For you information..........the time Hillary put on the fake accent it was PUT ON...PUT ON...PUT ON....she said so herself after the Obama Mama team tried to make something out of it. But of course Obama's Mama group don't care they try everything they can to slam, smear, slur, flame and swiftboat her.
