Is Mike Huckabee Gaining Weight?
As some of you may know, Mike Huckabee used to be really really fat, before he admirably took the weight off through diet and exercise.

Anyway, I was just watching Huckabee on CSpan, and thought it looked like he is gaining weight. The campaign trail is brutal for those trying to watch their weight, because there is no time to exercise and you're forced to eat a lot of high fat foods. I wonder if stress from the campaign trail is causing him to gain back some of the weight he lost?

1. Maybe, but it must be a part of Jesus' plan for the Republican primary. nt

2. I seriously doubt that he lost the weight only through diet and exercise. n/t

5. Congratulations to you!
Huckabee lost the weight in a relatively short period of time (6 months, I believe) and has maintained the 110 lb. weight loss.
If he did that through diet and exercise alone, more power to him. IMO, it seems more likely that he had weight loss surgery.

6. it took me about 14 months to lose 85 pounds and that was hitting the treadmill
6 days a week for an hour. I've been lucky, i've maintained the loss and i'm trying to lose the last 10 which ironically is taking more time to lose than the 85. If he did have surgery imo there is no shame in admitting it, i thought about having it for a long time but decided i would give it one last try without it and i got lucky, i found something that worked for me but if i didn't i would have gone the surgery route and would have told anyone interested about it.

8. He would never admit he had the surgery, because he's made so much
money off of his book, and gave out so much diet and exercise advice--massive hypocrisy risk. I wouldn't have put it past him, as truly wicked and cynical as I am, that he did whatever he could to lose weight FOR THE PURPOSE of making a book about it and profiting from it. That diet book sure wasn't his first book as Governor. He profited off of school shootings, and also profited off his "moral values" in another book. He's all full of money-making schemes, that Huckabilly. When he isn't President, and he won't be, I predict he'll write a book about the ups and downs of Presidential campaigning. And he'll get a television show. Just watch.

10. If it comes to light that
he had gastric bypass surgery, that would be a huge scandal.

4. Supposedly, a draconian liquid diet under a doctor's care. Or, could
be a gastric-bypass (rumors of this abound). His family doesn't seem to have read his book--they are still digging their graves with a knife and fork.

7. i could never do a liquid diet for more than a day, i know people who have done it
and then were just lost when solid food was brought back in.

9. It's pointless, unless one plans to do it for the rest of their lives.
At some point, ya gotta eat REAL FOOD--better to adapt to a more realistic lifestyle from the git-go.

11. The question is will the rethugs make as big a deal about it as they did about Gores weight gain?
Probably not. :grr: :argh:

16. Conversely, will we say the question of his weight is a dumb one now
like we did when it was asked about Gore?

13. They were talking about it (sort of) on MSNBC the other day
Huckabee was out hunting and wearing a silly looking Elmer Fudd hat with ear flaps, and whether or not this was his "Dukakis in a tank" moment. David Schuster was mentioning that his face looked chunky.

17. Hard to tell - he's full of bullshit and hot air
The hot air would tend to make him lighter - but he's got an awful lot of bullshit countering that.
