Ten Saudis return home from Guantanamo

DUBAI (Reuters) - Ten Saudis returned home on Saturday from detention in the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay where al Qaeda militants are held, the Saudi Interior Ministry said.

Washington has returned dozens of Saudis over the past year in an effort to reduce the numbers detained at the controversial camp ahead of finally closing it but around 13 are still held at the facility.

Public anger over the treatment of Saudi detainees in Guantanamo Bay has been high in the kingdom, a close U.S. ally but one which applies Islamic law.

Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz told the official Saudi Press Agency that efforts were underway to bring home the rest, and that U.S. authorities were cooperating.

Those repatriated to Saudi Arabia have received financial help from the government to rebuild their lives and many have been allowed to go free. snip

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers who carried out the Sept 11, 2001 attacks on the United States were Saudis and Osama bin Laden himself is Saudi-born.

2. I'm sure THEY will forgive and forget for bushco destroying their lives.
I'm sure THEY will tell their friends. The US often breeds others hatred for US.

3. So the US government admits to making ten mistakes with people's lives
They held these people for years and then just say sorry, you can go now...Especailly after years of telling the American people that only terrorists were detained...How many have been tried now? is that number larger than zero? After five years of detainment and no charges filed and we Americans allow this? The Constitution is very explicit on this. The Constitution is our "Code of Conduct" and that should not mean just while within the actual borders of the USA. Why should we say it is fine to behave differently as long as it isn't within the borders of the USA? To me the Constitution is how Americans are to behave. Just like the Boy Scout Law is how Boy Scouts are to behave. Not just while they are at a meeting or a jamboree but at all times and all places. This is one of the things that grates me the most about how the Democrats have remained silent over this.. Americans are exhibiting anti American behavior through our very own government and in front of the whole wide world..
