McCain: 'I Am Legend'
McCain: 'I Am Legend'

By HOLLY RAMER

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain joked Friday that given his campaign's ups and downs, he's shown the stamina of the last man on Earth.

"I've been declared dead in this campaign on five or six occasions. I won't refer to a recent movie I saw, but I think I am legend," he told reporters, referring to the film in which Will Smith stars as the last man on Earth.

After watching his early lead in New Hampshire evaporate months ago, McCain is on an upswing, closing the gap with longtime front-runner Mitt Romney in recent New Hampshire polls.

"Somehow we've had a Lazarus-like experience," McCain told supporters at his campaign headquarters. "I think it's because I've been telling the truth. I've been telling people the truth whether I thought that's what they wanted or not."

He also reminded volunteers that much work remains to be done before the Jan. 8 primary, telling them he needs to do "very, very well" in the state in order to continue on to further contests. McCain has not paid as much attention to Iowa, where Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee are in a close race heading into the Jan. 3 caucus.

7. Yep, that's what I'm afraid of--"mental sunset" as the most powerful
person on earth, with one of the most stressful jobs on earth. Good God--the man has barely shown up to the Senate this year, compared to the rest of the Senator-candidates who somehow manage to do Senate work along with campaigning. McCain and Thompson need to have side-by-side recliners in the dayroom, with nurses checking to make sure they're still breathing every once in a while.

14. Yes, he does have a stressful job as being a senator,
an important job, and he isn't giving it the full attention it deserves. Even now that his presidential candidacy has been long dead... right?

His presidential try is dead, right?

6. So he compares himself to a younger black man....
....starring in a remake of a film in which the head of the NRA isolates himself from the survivors of a nuclear war in order to hunt down and kill the majority of survivors whom he does not agree with....as in "I don't care if there are 1000 people left on earth, I will kill most of them because even after this, they are different than me.....Anyhow, his "message" is confused...

McCain is the only one that is dangerous, he has problems too. but he is at least viable.

really, if the Ds lose the general, they might never win the presidency again.

9. Flip Flopping Stamina ...

As poor of a candidate as John McCain is with the straight talk express now chasing it's own tail, he may be the strongest candidate in the field.

Note these are negatives from the point of view of Republican voters

Giuliani - Cross Dressing, pro-abortion, mobbed-up, arabbed-up and alien sanctuarian
Romney - Alien Sactuarian, Just Plain Alien (Mormon), Flip Flopped on abortion, wears magic underpants
Huckabee - Likes to let serial rapists and murderers out of jail whenever his fellow crackpot preachers say they've found Jesus.
Paul - Anti-War ... that and he's a libertarian.

There is no one left with serious chops except McCain.
