To know where we want to go, we must examine where we've been.
When Nixon was pardoned, the people of this country were robbed of the knowledge and understanding of his crimes. And as the direct result of this pardon, the American people never had a chance to make sure another President could never repeat those crimes. It allowed George H. W. Bush, and Cheney and Rumsfeld, in particular, to bud and thrive in their younger years, steep in the shadows, and then ooze into the Reagan Administration.

1980 was the beginning of an era of destruction for this nation, and especially, many people in South America. Arms and drug trafficking. Training of contra rebels. Gratuitous invasion of small countries. Coverups. Arming the precursors of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Arming Saddam Hussein against his neighbors. Crippling recession. Destruction of workers' unions. Media takeover. Clandestine financing by Reverend Sun Myung Moon.

And then the early 1990's brought even more recession and a Gulf War I, followed by more than a decade of suffocating sanctions, deprivations and depleted munitions, all aimed at the Iraqi people.

And then, on Christmas Eve, 1992, on his way out of office, George H. W. Bush pardoned six criminals left over from Iran-Contra. He is truly the clean-up man.

But he won't be able to clean up after his son.

And now, we have yet two more Bush Wars.. a botched war in Afghanistan that our attention-deficit disordered White House occupant never finished, and now the Taliban are in charge once again.... and an illegal aggression against Iraq that has killed many thousands of innocent people and brave American soldiers who depended on their commander in chief to never lie to them.

And we have a chillingly depleted treasury; we have a generation of lost young people who will be forever changed when or if they ever return from Bush's War, only to be sent to dilapidated rehabilitation facilities, starved of funds to assist them or timely medical examinations; we have a devastated American city; we have the theft of the people's ability in this country to make a decent living and to raise and educate their children.

We have a gutted intelligence agency whose agents are no longer confident that their identities will be protected by their own government.
We have a deliberately corrupted election process that has ensured the longevity of an illegitimate regime in our own government for the past 6 years.
And we now have an unchecked bellicose voice in the White House, threatening nuclear attack against Iran for reasons that exist in his own clouded mind.

This is where we've been, and now, where we are.

It's time for us to rescue ourselves and start on a path to restoring our rightful government for the people and by the people and then administering justice to this criminal enterprise that has permeated our lives.

Never again will justice be denied if we are to redeem ourselves.

4. You missed a decade. Who cleaned up after Bush1 on all those outstanding matters
that were leftover when he left office?

Truth matters. Democracy NEEDS truth.

7. That Parry article is a keeper, blm, thanks. The major mistakes Clinton made imho were
not allowing an investigation of GHWB's role in Iran-Contra, "for the good of the country", the free trade agreements that didn't adequately address worker and environmental protections, and the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (I think the year is correct) that allowed for further media consolidation...

We really do have our work cut out for us for a long time to come.

8. 9-11 and this Iraq war didn't have to ever happen - neither did a Bush2 administration.
Pretty damn sad. Now Clinton's 6 years of working to rehab Poppy Bush in the public eye is just PAINFUL to watch for all of us who know that everything happening today is rooted in Poppy's crimes of office.
