Banner on CNN:

Geo TV is quoting ex-Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's husband as saying she was critically wounded in today's bombing.

edited to add:

Ex-Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has died, according to media reports. Bhutto's husband said she was shot at a rally where a suicide bomber detonated, killing several of her supporters

3. Yes, there has been too much violence near where she has been
No story yet, just the breaking news banner. Still hoping that it isn't true.

38. Britain in secret talks with the Taliban
I wonder what they were chatting about. I would hope that most realize that Bushco is not a supporter of "democracy", they only use that as their cover. Now they couldnt have a person of the people winning that election now could we.

She sometimes seems to be almost taunting them to do something to her. Now they did.

12. Just came up on the CNN breaking banner too.
You have to give her credit, she didn't have to return to Pakistan. She was trying to rally the people.

14. I don't think Mushy is behind this...
The ones who would benefit from this are the religious extremeists - both Islamic and those fundy nuts associated with the BFEE.

39. They said she was shot first and then the suicide bomber...
blew himself up. I agree with you on this one, this wasn't just an attempted suicide bomber, someone wanted to make sure that she would not be involved in any election. This was not a statement being made, just business as usual.

22. Mushie men were in charge of security
What's more she was shot in the neck shortly after the blast (which appears to be cover). She was assassinated in public. That smells of Mushie to me.

25. I just heard on CNN that her SUV was bullet-proof...
Meaning she was shot from the inside OR the SUV wasn't bulletproof at all. As this unfolds - I think you might be right about the assassin. If it WAS Mushie's men, then I think a civil war is inevitable.

31. CNN just showed a recent interview with Bhutto
She said that she knew how dangerous it was to return, but her father taught her to stand up for things that she believed in, and she wanted to go back to stablize Pakistan and bring democracy back. She knew the risks, but she thought taking the risk was worth it.

Damn, the woman had guts. You have to give her credit for that.

35. Hmmm, correspondent in Pakistan also saying that she was shot
Sounds like he is a Bhutto supporter. Said that the first assination attempt failed because her security in that bombing was provided by her supporters, this time security was provided by Mushariff. The reporter said she was shot, and asked how this could happen.
